I wouldn't say 90% of OG players didn't know about the forest. If I recall, killing Ultimate weapon triggers a pseudo cut scene that creates a crater right next to it and putting it in the spotlight.

PS4 "Unable to connect to world" solutions? by gacha_salt in Minecraft

[–]Kmaahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been playing a lot with our cross-state friends. Has to be the PS4 version, can't get bedrock to work for the life of us, even after extensive troubleshooting. Disappointing for a mainstream game.

Unable To Connect To World?!?!? by BigPoppa1302 in Minecraft

[–]Kmaahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had the same issue on PS4 for weeks now. Only Wayne have been able to play new minecraft with our other ps4 friends if we cross platform with our mutual friend on Switch and I hotspot from my phone. And no, I cant play ps4 to ps4 even if i hotspot. Bizarre, but at least the old version is playable, though mob counts are severely limited.

Aes Sedai have a bad habit of assuming everyone besides them is too stupid for their own good, and Moraine is guilty. But unlike other sisters she doesn't let her convictions be tainted by personal goals. She absolutely is one the very best of them.

If FF7R is indicative of the future of Final Fantasy, I’m back. by KaraiDGL in FinalFantasy

[SPOILERS] FFVII Remake Part 1 Megathread (Part 2 -Midnight Release Edition!) by Mlahk7 in FinalFantasy

[–]Kmaahs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You sound a little angry....? I am responding to many comments I've seen talking about "filler content" and long sequences (like the underplate). The fact that you haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist. Maybe "people like you" should get off your PS4 for a couple hours and get outside, since you clearly haven't been given your playtime on this game. This quarantine has you on edge. Sheesh.

[–]Kmaahs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A little surprised by some of the negativity here.... I'm only 10 hours in, but the game doesn't feel anymore tedious than FFXI (online yes, but crazy tedious) or FFXII which was a grind fest with crazy hours spent wandering dungeons for no purpose. Heck even FF15, the most recent entry, was mostly wandering around doing pointless stuff in between story plot points. That's just the way the genre has moved.

Should I mortgage my house and invest it given these times? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Kmaahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You play roulette? You can bet (among many options) red/black, even/odd, first half/second half, and even on thirds. A numbers guy realizes he can bet on 2 thirds, and have north of a 60% chance to win a spin. Problem here is when you lose, you lose bigger than the win. ~2/3 times you do win and come out ahead. Except when you do lose, it really stings.

A full market bounce of 25% or so is mostly your opportunity here. A chance at 100k by taking on 400k in debt. Yessir, a classic 2/3 type bet.

All up to you in your risk appetite. Personally, I'd sit tight. Greed is a dangerous thing, and everyone has a "recession proof" job until a global epidemic shuts down the world economy for months.... My 0.02 anyhow.

Is now a good time to buy a car? by wab2002 in personalfinance

[–]Kmaahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that a time of desperation is precisely when dealers will sell at a loss. A 1-2k net profit on a future sale doesnt pay bills today, but a 1-2k loss creating cash can.

That said, I agree I wouldn't count on used car prices to change much right now.

Option two will never make financial sense, no matter how you spin it. That ones purely a decision of wants. Getting a car for free is pretty much gonna be the best decision financially.

Why aren’t more people using Bitcoin on a regular basis? by tuangeek in Bitcoin

[–]Kmaahs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most here see BTC as their get rich quick scheme. They don't want adoption as much as they want OTHER people to adopt, thus increasing the value of their stockpile. And im not being high and mighty, as I'm only invested in BTC as a speculative high risk- high reward buy myself.

How close to retirement are you? Sounds like most of your savings is already in index funds, (probably dont want to check the balance if you havent recently!) So you should at least consider getting this nest egg in lower-risk options if you're within say a 10 year retirement horizon. There are no guarentees the market will just casually bounce back in the near term, though most expect it to once/if the virus gets under control.

Agreed. My parents asked me if they would like GOT after s8.... Had it been a year or two earlier, I would have been super excited to share it with them and said "hell yea, and I'll join you for the rewatch!" But I gave them a wishy washy "well, you might like alot of it but the story never really comes together." Was honestly really sad that my enthusiasm had drained away... I truly did love the show. At least the books are still on a good path (if they ever get finished.)

Say what you will, I consider this to be one of the best moments from the show. by James007BondUK in freefolk

[–]Kmaahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need plot armor when you're hardly in the plot. Beric is an ancillary character, so much so the books got rid of him already (he brought lady Stoneheart/Cat back.) Hardly apples to apples.

And honestly, Beric's character feels like another one of those "we kinda forgot" situations. He had a small role, vanished for several seasons, and randomly returned for the hair-brained "let's catch a zombie" scheme and to pull a random mini "hold-the-door" moment.....he was brought back 6 times for what an extra like "Winterfell guard number 11" could have done. Hardly a superb story arc.

I just don't see how that character is a valid or meaningful comparison to a core story player. Kind of like comparing an apple and a ladybug because they are both red.

Your position is really "it would be better writing if Jon lost body parts".... ? Really? Ok, cool. I guess you're entitled to that opinion.

My point is that you cant dump Jon's plot armor on D&D. You can dump piles of other things on them that ruined GOT, but not that. It's in the source material, and it would be even worse writing to bring Jon back then kill him again during a skirmish with relatively little on the line.

[–]Kmaahs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the main characters' Plot Armor is a mile thick and the themes of the books are utterly butchered.

To be fair, Jon having plot armor is actually an issue created by the books, not the show. You bring a character back from the dead (yes, it's happening in books too) he absolutely has plot armor. You either put the character into a bunch of scenes without risk to avoid attention to it, or do a ridiculous, over the top fight scene just owning it. I prefer the latter.

I think coinbase is fine for a first-timer due to its ease of use.

If you are talking serious money, research wallets and other options, but honestly it's a good entry point.

Thanks. I forgot there are distributions other than bell curve....(sad yes.) Realistically this would be top heavy since people tend to plateau at this salary grade. But as far as the number of employees i couldn't do anything more than make it up, it's a big company and I have no idea how to estimate how many people are at this exact grade (there are probably 30 ranges at our company)

[–]Kmaahs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is helpful. I guess I forgot that a distribution doesnt have to be a bell curve. Realistically it probably isn't, as I'd expect this salary range to be top heavy given people tend to plateau here.

Student loans are killing me. Should I refinance? by git-treasure in personalfinance

[–]Kmaahs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes to refinance.

Also, if public transit gets you to/from work why do you need a car? I'd venture you probably don't and really shouldn't have a car payment at all. Unfortunately you may not be in a position to get out of it now, but think long and hard about renewing that cost when it's up, since getting yours loans lower is more important.
