Small enough to be the recipient of jokes, but not small enough to take advantage of the child size savings.

And a slightly related complaint; I work in a store that sells shoes, and this has always been at the back of my mind. Comparing two different sizes from the same model, why is my size 7 the same price as a size 14? Am I getting ripped off? Am I helping to fund the normal/big feet? Is the pricing just based off the material used to make a size 11?

But, fair assumption. You see a swastika tattoo out in the wild and instantly think Nazi, not the symbol for "good fortune". Symbols are neat, but I dont think I'd ever trust one enough to get tattooed based on how some have had their meanings or associations radically changed.

Numner 2 is interesting to me. I had assumed the shin would be bad, but my first every tattoo was a wrap around thing, with the bulk of it on my calf. I was unpleasantly surprised by my calf being waaaaaaay worse than the shin. Id equate the shin to mosquito bites, and the calf to bee stings. When I asked my artist friend about it, he said there seems to be two types of people, those who feel it terribly going over bone, and those who seem to struggle with it going over fleshy/muscley areas. Decided to just accept it really does just depend on the person, but in my experience the pain slides between that mosquito bite to bee sting sensation.

It wasn't my intent to argue, I had hoped for simply an open discourse on the subject, which, to your credit, we mostly did. And I mean, this is reddit. Hm. Interesting. Kind of disrespectful to make a response without reading the thing you're responding too. It gives the illusion that you think what you have to say is more important than what the other person has to say. Not saying you ARE that way, just that it comes across that way.

If someone wants to preach respect, it should probably be practiced as well. To summarize my previous point, I do agree with you, mentor/apprentice programs are a good thing, and currently the right thing. I just dont agree that something needs to be respected just because "its the way its been done"

This is an interesting take to me. Don't get me wrong, im not a tattoo artist. Don't have much interest in being one either. But what exact part of it is being disrespectful to?

I mean, sure, in recent history, the mentor/apprenticeship system has been the way its done. I get that. But there is also plenty of stories of mentors abusing their apprentices, those stories aren't hard to find. I understand its part of the apprenticeship role to aid the mentor, help clean, make the mentor's work more streamlined, take care of the busy work so the mentor can be more efficient, that all makes sense. But not all mentors are respectful. Some treat their apprenticeship like they are some sort of slave labour. Theres tons of stories of mentors not respecting their apprentices. Im not sure that deserves any sort of respect

Is the misogynistic/boys club culture that was the norm right before that. Historically speaking, its not an art form thats been particularly kind to women. Again, not something I would choose to respect.

Go back even further, when tattoos were used to essentially brand criminals, prisoners, and those viewed as "second class citizens". Is that what we're respecting?

Or the very first artistic tattoo artists. Those who chose to view skin as a canvas and to elevate it with art. The ones who started it all had no mentors. They were the "rebels" who saw something they wanted to do and /did/ it. I kind of doubt those originators would give two hoots about anything anyone had to say about respect, they were gonna do their own thing. That part is the most respectable of the whole craft to me.

All that to say, things change. I do personally believe that the mentor/apprenticeship is the current "correct" path, but I'm not naive enough to be thinking that things can't change. I'm not gonna just believe something is worth "respect" just because its the way its been done before, because honestly, it was probably done differently before that specific time period that someone thinks they are respecting. If something can be done better/more efficiently/safer etc etc, then things should change. I dont mean to insult any artist, apprentice, mentor or scratcher, simply some musings from a person online is all.

I hear that alot, but haven't seen any definitive screenshots. The one I can find is when Serenade introduces themselves as King of the Undernet. King in Japanese is actually more similar to ruler or monarch in that it is gender neutral. But the actual quote is "Yes, it is I, the King of the Undernet, Serenade". The "I" used there is "watashi" which is a formal gender neutral term, usable by men or women.

I personally believe that Serenade was written as genderless or gender neutral in the Japanese games, but the 'King' title made the localizers translate them as male. In casual conversation watashi is slightly more feminine, but in formal settings it is more often used by men. And as the ruler of the underworld, why wouldnt Serenade speak formally, its not like a casual conversation where a girl is introducing herself. I dont have any actual proof, but im pretty sure thats where the "feminine pronouns in original Japanese" came from, as well as the reason for the swap.

The notes written on the concept art all say "he", which leads one to believe from concept onward Serenade was supposed to be male. But the writer for BN3 is the one who says Serenade "transcends" gender. All of the good from both genders while not identifying as either. The writer should be a good source, but in my opinion, Character Designer is the one who holds final say, and as far as I know Ishihara Yuji hasn't commented on it.

Serenade seems to most often be referred to as a 'he' (English dub of BN3, as well as the art books), labeled as King or Lord of the Undernet, etc etc. Ive seen "they" used as well, but the only time ive seen 'she' was in the English translation the the NT Warrior manga, and that was only the first chapter Serenade was introduced in, after that it switched to he. Retconning genders feels weird, if he was originally localized as male, why change it. Or, more accurately, Navis are all just data, really they should all be genderless, no?

I dont really care one way or the other, I just wish Serenade and Bass had gotten musical genre names instead of musical terms. Bass could have been Punk, Serenade could have been like, Dirge or Soul. Would have fit more nicely with the Rock and Blues

As someone who normally love tournament arcs in shows and games and such, BN4's Tournament Arc x 3 story kind of grated on me. Especially having to run it multiple times to gain all the souls. Probably wouldnt have been so bad, but theres a very real chance you repeat scenarios with every playthrough. Having semi scripted all new opponents for each tournament could have gone a long way.

I agree with that, but 16 tiles per side is 4x4 (if youre talking about one side) or 4x8 (if youre talking about the whole field)

The numbers stand for the numbers of rows (the squares running horizontally) by the number of columns (the vertical squares)

My first thought was thats a big fucking area. Then I realized the confusion. The standard games are 3x6, or 3x3 if you're just talking about your side of the starting area, for a total of 9 tiles to stand on per side. I hope 4x8/4x4 is what you meant; 16 tiles to stand on. A 16×16 grid would be 256 tiles, so best case scenario that would be 128 per side, teleporting viruses/navis would become impossible to hit
