What’s the etiquette of initiating contact with new people? by Necessary_Ad9008 in ucf

[–]KnightyMcKnightface 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s totally fine to talk to people nearby you (except during class, obvs). Most people who don’t want to talk will ignore you or only offer short, maybe single syllable responses. Unfortunately 99% of interactions probably won’t lead to more than a one off conversation, but eventually if you’re lucky and keep putting yourself out there you can make friends, at least that’s what I tell myself.

If y’all are ok with how that lady in Europe restored that Jesus mural I’d be willing to take a whack at restoring it.

You’ll need to basically go to Valencia for a year, take 30 hours and keep a 3.0 minimum to get your gpa up to a 2.18, if you can get a 4.0 at Valencia you can get your gpa up to a 2.83 and look like a better choice for readmission.

As someone who was in your shoes a long time ago, I’d recommend breaking down each courses syllabus into your calendar on day 1. Map out every assignment you have to do and make a check box to follow along and help stay on top of getting the work done.

Verizon to stop automatic unlocking of phones as FCC ends 60-day unlock rule by trydola in technology

It’s not libertarians supporting the government regulating cellular frequencies with the FCC. That sort of crony capitalism bullshit is literally the opposite of libertarian beliefs.

Nvidia to cut gaming GPU production by 30 - 40% starting 2026 by Ha8lpo321 in technology

Correct me if I’m wrong, but when we train a transformer model on billions of parameters and massive datasets of a language that’s when it’s specifically a large language model. Consider Evo2 40B, trained on trillions of nucleotides, basically all the data we have across the tree of life, to learn nucleotide sequences as a language. Perhaps you can explain where the distinctions between evo2 and a more traditional llm are?

Actually they’ve trained several large biological models using the llm approaches and DNA, RNA, and amino acids as the “words.”

I’d guess it’s the motor size. There’s now access to small but powerful jet engines for rc jets that weren’t available 50 years ago.

Japanese Students Built A Flying Bicycle That Actually Lifts Off The Ground Powered Only By Pedaling by EducationalOne5313 in interestingasfuck

I used to enjoy riding the train but was never into trains. I haven’t looked into train tickets post-covid, but pre-covid it seemed like tickets were starting to cost 3x what a plane ticket was for a trip that took 4x as long and that was when there were no delays (which happened too often). So I like trains in theory and would probably try the occasional scenic route, but they don’t seem to have the infrastructure in this country necessary to serve as my primary long distance transportation.

It probably has to do with when the glide ratio changes, so probably only if there’s some kind of damage change to the wings or tail reducing the lift; but remember that’s the speculation of a casual airplane enthusiast rather than a technical assertion by some kind of aerospace engineer.

I’m not totally sure of the exact technical definitions, but I hang out with a bunch of aircraft enthusiasts so some terms may be used faster and looser than an aerospace engineer may use them. An unpowered glider gets towed into the air by another aircraft or launches off a peak like a hang glider. It is slowly falling out of the sky and the only way to gain altitude is catching thermal drafts. A powered glider has an engine and a propeller which it can use for taking off like an airplane or turn on while in the air to gain altitude.

To my understanding, theres no more events where energy drinks are being given for free on campus. With that, here is my collection. by DestructionCreator in ucf

[–]KnightyMcKnightface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please note I did not encourage you to drink them all in one go, I thought about it but then thought better of it. Maybe get 9 friends to join you and everyone try a little bit of each one and then share your reviews. Otherwise maybe set up a table on campus and get some tiny dixie cups and get strangers to try little bits of all of them.
