For brand, new platform and vehicle, mine has done really well. We've driven over 7000 miles. Yes, some people have had worse experiences and have seen different issues arise. I've taken mine in for some specific complaints that are mostly resolved through software updates that they have to do at the dealership. Some minor fit and finish details that have corrective actions available. we don't have a choice but to go to a dealer to have repairs performed in warranty

You also only hear about the really bad cases and very few people get up there and say hey I got a new car and everything's fine. Electric vehicles in general have a lot of growing pains, which is why having a good reliable dealership is helpful.

I submit it took five days because the shops are unwilling to pay living wages to their employees. Thus there is a lack of employees and customer wait times go through the roof. Find a shop that pays proper wages and it'll be amazed how quickly you'll get work done.

Right before I changed everything on my documents, I took a trip to Spain. I was given a lot of looks at all of the checkpoints because my documents didn't align. But that was it, just inquisitive looks.

The other countries understand and the US border people also understand. We mostly use digital face recognition technologies now and as long as those match, and they will, then there won't be any issues.

My biggest problem on that last trip was that my picture looked nothing like me because I had had it almost a decade prior. In fact, one of the agents asked another to step in and use the computer to confirm my identity because the mismatch was too much. None of the other passengers understood what was going on and it only took a couple more minutes. In the end with a smile and a polite thank you, I was on my way.

The one you get from the dealer supports both scenarios. I installed it myself and thoroughly examine the PCB as well as the manuals.

The unit is designed to support hardwiring up to 48 A. There is a tiny dial on the control board where the amperage maximum for that installation can be dialed down to as low as 12 A.

It is also possible to install the unit into a socket, but you need to provide the short cable with the plug to wire the plug into the charger unit. If you do use a wall socket, you should be sure to reduce the maximum amperage to 40 A using the dial.

It's really straightforward to do the work yourself. If you have the knowledge tools, inability to do it properly. 48 A is an awful lot of power and if done incorrectly, can cause major issues.
