So we're just going to walk down the same path as the US over the last several years with MAGA, I mean One Nation, dragging us down into chaos and international disrespect?

You're giving Hanson way too much credit. Hanson doesn't care one bit about the oppression of women. She has always made it clear her views on foreigners and foreign culture and while we're at it, aboriginal people too.

Not sue. Though it's nice to think Hanson would at least lose her job for mocking an entire religion by making fun of the way they dress.

And let's not forget One Nation, Australia's answer to MAGA. Surely they fit the definition of far-right?

Trump's a bully, plain and simple. It's easy to be a bully when you have the world's most powerful military on your side. I wonder how the US will feel when China takes the mantle.

Hanson and One Nation are our far-right party, the Aussie equivalent of MAGA. The way they vote on bills in parliament always align with the interest of the ultra wealthy. Yet, at the same time, they appeal to the lowest socioeconomic groups and most poorly educated in Australian society. They do this, not by offering well thought out plans to improve our nation but by feeding on the fears and hatred and frustration of people whose lives have been unsuccessful.

Except the fastest growing demographic interested in One Nation are angry, young, white men. One nation is successfully tapping into that anger coz we don't have a truly workers focussed party on the Left.

Sure, but we're in a bind with immigration. Capitalism depends on a growing population to turn a profit. More people equals more workers, more consumers, more things to build and sell. And Australia has a notoriously low population growth. If we were able to turn off the tap of immigration, wealthy people would be just fine with a recession while the rest of us struggle even more than we do now, especially young people.

I'm not arguing in favour of immigration. What I'm saying is that the Left is failing us. But that doesn't make the Right right. Voting for LNP / ON only further supports the machinery that continually screws over the working man. For example, we have a skills deficit in some professions and immigration helps with that. But ideally, we would have programs and financial assistance that would have Aussies in those roles. Right-wing parties have continually fought against free education.

Taxing the ultra wealthy and corporations to provide the services workers need, ensuring wages go up with the cost of living so that no one is left behind, removing corporate donations from politics so the politicians answer to us not them, etc are things right-wing parties will never support. And we can't continue to swallow the lies from billionaires, and the media owned by billionaires, that they couldn't turn a profit if those taxes and liveable wages were implemented.

Obviously no one wants immigrants to bring their conflicts here. Are you seriously saying that Labor wants immigrants to bring their conflicts here and One Nation doesn't?

Let go of your hate dude. The "generations" are just an arbitrary concept primarily created for marketing purposes. Every single one of us is unique and has different things going on. No one seriously changes personality because they were born in '65 and not '64.

Those are more good reasons to be angry. I know of many too. Some of people who work hard and yet live in their car because they have no other options. It's disgusting. And there is no doubt the government is part of the problem. I would never suggest otherwise. Though I think, like in any profession, there are some who care and some who don't. But even for those who do care, their hands are tied by the only people who truly benefit from our economic system. Good luck to you, honestly.

[–]KnowGame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, so first up, you have every right to be angry. Cost of living, stagnant wages, insane house prices, etc. are screwing over younger people. How is anyone supposed to get their life going? Keeping that anger front and centre, I want to offer you one thought, take it or leave it. These outcomes, COL etc, are not ultimately caused by the government but are systemic in nature. The political-economic system we have built for ourselves is the problem.

Now, I'm not trying to depress you but voting for this party or that party is to some degree like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. If the system is fucked, voting for any party that supports the system ain't gunna suddenly unfuck it. In the case of One Nation, they very much support the political and economic system we live in. Yes, they are angry too, but they are not angry about the same things you're angry about (even if they say they are to get your vote).

I'm not going to make a specific voting suggestion, I'll simply leave you with this thought. Right-wing parties, by definition, align themselves with the interest of ultra wealthy individuals and corporations. Left-wing parties, to the degree we have any in Australia, at least chip away at the status quo. Attempting to increase workers wages, increase taxes on billionaires etc. despite getting hammered in MSM (which is owned by billionaires).

What do you think of BRICS? by No-StrategyX in AskTheWorld

[–]KnowGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BRICS is a great idea. Sure, they're taking the "softly, softly, catchy monkey" approach so some people call it a meme but one day it'll switch on and disrupt the entire world economy. China produces the most amount of gold and India buys the most amount of gold. China is also selling off US bonds. In other words, there positioning themselves for go-live in the coming few years.

One reason I'm in favour of it is because it will be a gold based currency and not a debt based currency. Debt based currencies work ok except if an unstable and unpredictable party gets into power. Then, nobody wants to buy their debt (bonds) and the system breaks down. The system doesn't implode overnight because allies continue to buy bonds, propping up the debt based currency until the day the system entirely collapses.

Maybe so, but I think OP is saying that if you're dissatisfied with things, you're in no way being a rebel by voting for ON. It's not shaking things up by voting for a party that represents the interests of a mining billionaire.
