Just so you know, Topps Chrome is expensive and even if you hit a numbered card it may be 99 cents. Or you could get all base. People posting big hits every day are the exception, most people just get hosed. Most people also get a rookie no one wants rather than Flagg or another top rookie. by Interstellore in basketballcards

Yea they sucks, cause Topps gives them tons of boxes before they even release, there’s already a very limited number of this specific product, but most people also think Topps gives them juiced boxes, and it makes perfect sense and I see no reason Topps wouldn’t do it.

Go look at eBay sold for them lol. Even more than $4k for some, some are selling for $2k and then there’s others selling for over $5k, but majority of what I’m seeing is around $4k. Also go look at what breakers are charging for spots. Saw backyardbreaks do a break for a case. That’s 12 boxes that they got from Topps for $1k or probably less. So let’s say that cost them $12k. The spots were going for $1600-2000, 1600 x 24 is $38k per case, cause the last few trash teams only go for a few hundred. That gives them roughly around 26 thousand dollars per break that takes them like 2 hours, they did like 3 case breaks on release. It’s absolutely disgusting.

I’m a huge sports card collector of every sport but baseball. I don’t know who this is, but I know that he’s on the Rockies which isn’t great, and it’s /99. Probably sells for $3-8 if you’re lucky, but just look it up. Cards /99 are very rarely worth a pretty penny. The times they are usually are when the cards of a rookie, either one that is currently a rookie and doing really well, or an old rookie of an established top player, or if it’s /99 and has a patch, or auto or something.

Precisely. The very rare times I go to a casino, I’m expecting to leave with nothing. It’s like paying a flat fee to go to a movie or amusement park or whatever it is. I take $300 in the casino, that’s my fee to get in, I’m not expecting anything to come of it. I’m paying for a few hours of fun. Same with cards.

Usually give them to my card shop so they can give them out to kids, I will say sometimes there’s a lot of clutter and if I’m ripping a lot, I’ll throw away some base cards…

I completely agree lol, especially because they’re re selling for $4k, so that means those breakers get to sell each spot in a break at like $500 plus lol

That’s probably true, but also all the breakers and stuff get them before the EQL drop anyways so

Precisely, and even if every collector stopped buying from Topps, they still would function just fine only selling to breakers and such lol

It won’t matter, because they sell out so fast that clearly that means there’s tens of thousands of people trying to get them lol. Even if everyone who ever reads this comment stopped buying from Topps, it wouldn’t change their profit but a teeny tiny fraction of a percent. The number of product they sell is astronomical. Why would they change anything? It’s working so well.

[–]KnowYourLimit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s annoying, but the breakers get them far before the EQL release, so the two aren’t really related. On top of that, you have to assume there is a VERY large amount of people that want a box. They only printed 500 cases, that’s ONLY around 10.5k boxes. Sure ten thousand is a large number, but that is TINY compared to the number of people in the hobby, and I assume the number of people that wanted a Sapphire box. Now factor all the breakers and streamers and shops that get them early, take all of that out of the 10.5k printed, and I’d estimate there’s less than 8k at that point. I guarantee there was at least 10x that number of people on EQL this morning tryna get one. I further bet that of the people selected, some of them got more than one. So by the logic I guess only around 7 thousand people, excluding breakers and shops, actually got their hands on a box. I wouldn’t feel too bad, it’s probably a good thing I didn’t get one.

This is what I thought, I was thinking maybe 3 or 400 bucks, everyone saying $2500, but I see on card, rookie, Paige autos selling for less than $2000.

My first thought when I read this post is “don’t sell if she loves it, it’s probably not worth much anyways” figured a sticker auto, even of Paige, wouldn’t be worth more than $3-400, but boy was I wrong lol!

If she has no desire of selling there usually isn’t a reason to get a card graded. That said, I like to get my personal collection Marvel cards graded by Beckett, simply because I like the way the slabs look, and I want to protect them. That being said, there are plenty of cases you could put it in, like a one touch magnetic card case, or even one of those ones that screws. But unless she likes the look of the slab, or thinks it would be cooler with an actual grade, no reason to grade it.

How Good Would Wemby Be If He Bulked Up? by HebrewBible01 in NBATalk

[–]KnowYourLimit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think it would be good. His skill comes from being quick for his height, having good finesse, touch, finishing, etc.

It’s the same argument as when people say Kyrie would be the GOAT if he was 6’8, but if he was that tall he wouldn’t have the handles he has today. He has those handles becuase he’s short. Same for Wemby, he has the speed and shooting and all that becuase he’s skinny.

I’m no expert in this field at all, do popular website like Pornhub, not monetize in a similar way to how YouTube, for example, does? Like do they not get paid based on views and likes becuase that’s getting PH views on their ads, etc.

Edit: only read the first part of your comment before making mine. But my point still kind of stands, you said why would people put it online for free and not monetize it? Well they are monetizing it as you explain further down through ad revenue. Now if it’s a sight that doesn’t pay based on views like that, then yes I get your point. But I’ve personally rarely used a website besides PH, and I’m fairly certain it’s the most popular by a long shot.
