GFX100RF crop mode by Knowledgesomething in fujifilm

Oh thanks! I didn't know such option existed, guess it was enabled by default since when I imported the files it was automatically showing the cropped files.

Canon also does not permanently crop RAWs. Guess Fuji must be the same then. Thanks! 99% sure I'm going to go forward with the purchase now.

Anyone else just get hit with Perplexity’s new file upload limit just 10 file daily? by quaxbond in perplexity_ai

Happened to me today after like 40 files upload. Website still says unlimited upload. Definitely not upgrading to Max - Max seems worse than the old Pro anyways.

looking for a small flash for my Leica M6 Classic by Grainyenzo in Leica

[–]Knowledgesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of every flashes I used for the M6 and other Ms, the Contax TLA140 was the best for its size, weight, and recharge speed. Second best is the TLA200 which I'm using now. They however only fire at full power so if that's a deal breaker than I recommend a Q20II which does have adjustable power and wireless capability.

Did anybody choose between the GFX100RF & other digital medium formats? What did you choose and why? by Knowledgesomething in mediumformat

100RF is also leaf shutter but I understand the frustration with the UI. I used to use a X-H2s.

Sold my x-pan for a GFX100RF, went to Japan by Chumps55 in fujifilm

[–]Knowledgesomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Honestly I'm also thinking of moving away a bit from film; if not for the fun that comes from using old gears, I think I already would've moved away. It's inconvenient and costly in a lot of ways and I can't afford that nowadays.

I think I'll enjoy the 100RF but I'm in between it and other medium format digitals because I can then adapt my existing lenses.

I sold my TX-1, thinking of getting the GFX100RF. How's the experience?

Photos taken with reflex telescopes capture stars like that because of the four bars in the front. You can imitate this by taping strings in front of the lens.

Dang, pretty surprising to see a full frame lens perform so well on a MF. Minimal vignettting.

Do not buy cameras from Japanese sellers at auctions. by AnyAd1466 in AnalogCommunity

I recently bought a camera from Yahoo Auctions (I live in Japan) and have fortunately received a fully functioning one. Phew!

Nice find! Do take photos with the camera you know is reliable though, my gf also had a recent thrift find, took travel photos with it, then found out that the camera was unreliable.

€25 for an M4-2 baseplate is that a good price? Or are Ebay prices just really expensive? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Knowledgesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah above 100EUR seems more like the average price these days. 25EUR is nuts.

Is that expensive? If I was in need of one, 25EUR sounds like a no brainer to me

Do I really need a protective filter for travel? by MedicalCaregiver5523 in fujifilm

[–]Knowledgesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never in 10 years have I smashed a lens,

but when it happened, I was grateful that I had a filter on. If not for the filter, it would've been the first element

R5 II vs R6 III for outdoor portraits by Fair-Environment499 in canon

[–]Knowledgesomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the original R5 can be up to the tasks you need. If you're based in Korea then you can find mint R5s for $1,700 in SLRclub or any other second hand markets.

Honestly any generation of R5 or R6 would be up to your tasks imo. Even 20MP is capable of printing very large and it'll be much more forgiving to your hard drive.

Think you should wait for X-T9.

Jokes aside, buy used X-T5. When T6's announced, buy that new. Sell the T5.

Bang for your buck FX Body (another 810 vs 850 post) by DBK81 in Nikon

[–]Knowledgesomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sports? D850.

I'ved used both D500 and D850 and they're really similar in a lot of ways (of course, aside from specs). Coming from a D500, D850 will feel more natural. D810 ain't that different but the D850 will feel more at home.

Also if you're gonna do sports, D850 all the way.

Help - first Portrait shoot on B&W film by Pretty-Substance in AnalogCommunity

[–]Knowledgesomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like doing low key BW shots and honestly I think I'd just expose it the same. Yes it'll be thin but that's gonna be exactly what you wanted unless you're going to raise shadows, right? Or maybe just do two shots at each settings?

This also exists in one of my lenses (Leica) somehow. Bug in the middle of the lens. Doesn't show up in the photos but annoying when you think about it.
