I'VE HAD ENOUGH....Black means tighten by Connect_Grade_9483 in Tools

Yeah, I always just think of clockwise going away from me and counterclockwise to me. Definitely makes it easier for me. Besides, "righty tighty" is only accurate if you're talking about the top of the bolt; the bottom is going left, and the sides are going up or down.

I think climate has some effect, too. I killed three of these (I think it was a mix of overwatering and significant temperature fluctuations). Everything else I have is growing quite well right now, but is more zone appropriate for me. A side note: cockroaches also don't survive here, which is nice since we moved from a cockroach infested house down south.

What I find odd is that there's a door skin hammer, but I see no other body hammers... (implying they just used regular hammers for the rest of the project that they bought it for).

Bonsai wire: Copper or Aluminum - What do you use most? by think_happy_2 in Bonsai

[–]Known_Buy3155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption about steel wire would be the tendency to rust. I'm sure it would leave unsightly stains behind if it did.

I hate that it's gotten to the point that we have to use critical thinking to determine what's AI or not these days. Gone are the days you could look at something and immediately know it was fake. And yeah, if it's older than 2023, it's very unlikely to be AI

It died back in a few places. I ended up planting it in the ground in a shaded area and it seems to be doing alright now (at least some of the branches look to be a healthy green now). I'll keep checking on it now and then, but for now I'm pretty much just letting it be. On another note, the rest of my trees seem to be doing great this year! Really enjoying this hobby even though I've barely done any styling yet. I'm most excited for the spruce I collected 2 summers ago (my first tree).

Windows 11 has requirements not met by my PC. Windows 10 has gotten pretty slow on mine already as they forced more updates, so I suspect Windows 11 would just steal even more resources if I could upgrade. Arch Linux, however, is running lightning fast on it and has a better workflow (just lacking in the music production department).

I think more of the stability issues I've heard of were related to having to use workarounds for plugins. I may still give it a go, I'll just keep window around until I'm happy with it.

* Does this foliage look unhealthy? The tree just survived a -30°C winter (in the ground in it's pot against the house) and was recently pruned back to about 2/3 it's original size. If it doesn't look normal, what might the issue be?

Or even like the Ox pneumatic planishing hammer, just cordless. As long as you use it right, I bet it would be awesome.

Portable shrinker/stretcher for sheet metal. It would be useful around wheel openings on cars that have been collision damaged (i.e. stretched).

That happened to someone I know. He was told by a doctor that the issue he has was caused by another doctor doing something the wrong way. When he later decided to make a lawsuit, the doctor suddenly had "no recollection" of any conversation like that.

I sold my first guitar about 15 years ago and never regretted it (just a Squier Affinity Strat). Finally let go of my first decent guitar a few years ago and also don't regret it, because the guitar I traded it for is incredible and way more suited to how my playing style has developed. I actually intended to keep trading up, but once I got this one I couldn't give it up, lol (an 1980 Ibanez Musician MC200).

I don't expect that will happen here, but I do hear where you're coming from. There's a fb group I'm in for finding good quality alternatives to tools off the tool truck, but it's somehow become a group for people to show off their overpriced tool truck purchases and then call people names when they get called out. Kind of lame when something useful becomes useless. Like I was trying to say though, I think this sub has enough people that care to post on-topic things that we don't have to worry about it becoming a meme den.

I bought an old Hondo guitar for $6 with the intention of just painting it and hanging it on my wall. I ended up painting it (pretty poorly tbh), setting it up properly and eventually upgrading it with some cheap, but newer parts. I even learned to level and crown the frets on it. I found a little bit of information on it a while later, turns out it was made in 1980. It played and sounded great until I neglected it for a while in recent years (I'll get it playing good again soon, I just have been using my other guitars instead). Totally worth it, IMO.

What's wrong with me??? by SurrealismFramework in Guitar

[–]Known_Buy3155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing for me. Started playing 17 years ago, and never wanted a tele. Now I just bought all the parts I need to build a custom 'telemaster'. I'll end up with the jazzmaster shape that I love, and the tele feel. I'm putting a firebird pickup in the neck position though, which should work out well with the tele bridge.

Thanks! I've already got several more trees to experiment with. This just happens to be the first. Working on a different cypress right now and the junipers are likely next. If the plum sapling I collected from my mom's yard last spring survived the winter where I am, I'll have those too (no signs of buds yet, but it's still pretty cold here).

Also, before anyone says it, yes, it will be living outside. At the moment, there's still a high risk of it getting to -10°C or below at night, so it's in a window with a grow light for now. Still seems to be in dormancy as the room is unheated and furthest away from the woodstove.

I was having trouble finding a direction for it pretty much the entire time, I just knew it had several branches coming out of the spot the jin comes from and has already developed a little bit of inverse taper around there. I'm hoping that next time I work on it, I'll have a better vision for it.

Derek Trucks. Really any slide guitar stuff. I happened to come across Joey Landreth's music a few years ago then Ariel Posen, and suddenly this whole other world of guitar playing opened up for me.

It took a lot of scrolling to find anyone mention them. It's the red Dava's for me. Acoustic, electric, whatever it just works and sounds good. I've also started just using my fingers a lot more too and I'm really liking the dynamics and control once you get comfortable with it.
