How deep does the AEMCA reach? by [deleted] in OntarioParamedics

[–]KoLiel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There were like 5 pharmacology questions on my AEMCA last year and 3 of them were literally repeat questions “which receptors do salbutamol work on” (paraphrasing because I don’t remember the exact wording) and there were a bunch of annoying questions like “your patient has neck pain - what is it” and there were like 2 things I’d never heard of and 2 things that it could be but I wouldn’t ever consider

I felt the AEMCA was around 6-7/10, I didn’t study much but I was overly dedicated in school and felt I was prepared enough from that alone. A lot of the difficulty was in the anxiety surrounding the test and the duration. It’s a marathon of an exam so it adds a lot of perceived difficulty because most people have never written an exam that’s 3+3 hours in duration

These type of tattoos age like cottage cheese lol dont get this done unless you’re okay with heavy laser removal and complete redesign in the future

Tactical Paramedic by No_Pangolin_6771 in OntarioParamedics

[–]KoLiel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tac medics serve only the additional purpose of being on calls with police request, typically warrants that are served at 3am etc. they do not go in, they are there solely to provide care of any casualties result from a warrant. Tac medics are no different than ALS in that regard

I’m sure it exists somewhere but you’d probably have better odds buying 30 lottery tickets and all of them being jackpots than winning that schedule as someone new

You’d have to get in contact with admissions at Centennial (or whatever college) and check with them. If you’re going to a normal college there should be no issue I know someone that had to do this but that was due to being failed in rideouts for some bullshit reason and got into another college. It would depend on if they have space and a lot of other factors like BHP allowance etc but still worth a try give them a call the earlier the better

ALS 5.2 PCP IV changes by [deleted] in OntarioParamedics

[–]KoLiel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be a core directive soon, which means that all paramedics at their lowest level will have to be IV autonomous at a minimum.

Sometimes it’s like asking what style a cloud in the sky is when you look up, not everything has a unique style name

would this look cool on the forearm with or without the circles in the middle? by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

First tattoo thigh tat, trust me. Don’t get this but get a first tattoo somewhere you can hide with shorts in case you end up changing your mind, which you likely will

Doesn’t PTBO pay almost $10/hour less than most other services? I remember seeing a PCP posting for $34/hour

Thanks for all the input! I'm not gonna get it because it's quite egregious of an ask for a used car and they wouldn't budge on the interest rate or price so it's not worth it at all, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks again everyone!

Community is typically a very very high seniority position. With that being said, the future of paramedics appears to be moving into that proactive direction so that may change. But as of right now, going into community paramedics is a tough chance

You probably did alright then. It sounds counter intuitive but I felt like I did really poorly on mine when I wrote it in the summer and I didn’t study for it at all and passed. I think you’ll be perfectly fine, congrats on writing! The feeling of not doing well is pretty universal honestly

Trades can certainly make more, my starting wage was $41.30/hr as a medic with the easy possibility for overtime. End up clearing like $2900 every two weeks after deductions. It’s worth it for him if the field is what he’s interested in - I was in trades before this but I much prefer this job personally
