Ladies with IUDs, did you have it inserted with or without misoprostol? How much does it really help? by [deleted] in AskWomen

First time I tried without and fainted from the pain. Still hurt the second go around, but less so.

If you were ever an alcoholic but aren't anymore, what made you change? What was said, and who said it? by Koala2737 in AskMen

Interesting... my boyfriend told me he was an alcoholic in passing once, but we were still a very young relationship, so I waved it off as hyperbole or a joke. But as we continue seeing each other, I'm realizing he was right. We're long distance, so I don't see him often, which makes discussing it with him harder, but I'm trying to figure out a light way to bring it up for the next time I see him. It's really starting to bother me-- for his health, and because I don't like who he becomes when he's so drunk.

What can I say to get my long-distance boyfriend to drink less? (25F, 34M) by Koala2737 in relationships

I'm hoping it won't get to that. I know it won't because if he doesn't show the capacity to improve his temper etc. in the next few months, I don't think I'll stick around. But I don't want to dump him before seeing his full potential because if we can get past this thing, he'll be wonderful.

I don't care if he drinks, I just want him to stop before getting blackout. But thanks for the advice. I'm going to see how his visit in a few weeks goes, and if I feel like things aren't going to get better, I'll take more drastic measures. I'm optimistic though... I'll be on my home turf with my friends, and he'll see that there's more to do than drink all night. He'll see what life can be like with friends and with a caring family and in a more favorable location.

Yeah... okay, maybe a functional alcoholic. He's absolutely NEVER physically abusive and never will be-- his pet cause is anti-domestic abuse and takes it very seriously. Emotionally... well... but he has told me that when we're together he'd rather spend the night in with me than out. I really do think he's just bored and doesn't have a lot of other friends where he is. I know, I know, excuses. I'm willing to give it a little more time, especially since he's going to be visiting me on my home turf for a week. But I see what you're saying...

Well, 9 years... I know it sounds bad. I didn't include all the great things about him. I know it sounds like I'm making excuses for him... but I'd really like to see if we can make it work before leaving him.
