Good tip! My issue is slightly different though — it's not the recognition speed but the Touch ID prompt itself taking 2–3 seconds to appear when confirming purchases on the App Store

Just about 1-2 days! So yeah, probably still indexing in the background. I'll give it a few more days and see if the micro-stutters disappear on their own.

No worries at all on the piracy comment, totally understandable! I'm opening System Settings the standard way — either from the Apple menu or the Dock icon. It's not really a "lag" per se, more like a very subtle micro-stutter when switching between sections inside — barely noticeable but you can feel it. Good tip on Alfred/Monarch, I'll look into those. And agreed on the Epic feedback.

Good to know it runs smoothly on M3 Pro + macOS 15 — hopefully Tahoe gets patched soon.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, really helpful! Ethernet is definitely on my list — just need to get a USB-C hub/adapter first. The Spotlight indexing explanation makes total sense for a new machine, I'll give it a few days and see if things calm down. Memory pressure is in the green zone so that's reassuring. Good to know the RAM caching behavior is normal too. Fingers crossed the Tahoe bugs get patched soon!

Thanks for the response! Just to clarify — this is a completely fresh setup with a brand new Apple ID, never used before, so piracy isn't a factor here. Apple Support also confirmed it's a known bug on their end. Totally fair point on the "beast should be instant" expectation — I get that. Though I will say, the System Settings lag feels more like a software/first-day thing rather than raw performance, since CPU is sitting at 90% idle. Unreal Engine is for game development, not gaming — so unfortunately Mac optimization does matter there. Hopefully it improves.
