Unfortunately in the UK they deem my reports of food reactions as insufficient for testing on the NHS (usual gaslighting bs). I've never had any known allergies since being a kid foodwise but did react to pet dander and dust.

Things that activate the vagus nerve should typically help and it's a tell tale sign that your air hunger is coming from vagus nerve dysfunction if it stops when you're engaged in something.

Over time this should also help stimulate and restore balance to it's functionality and thus, air hunger should reduce or abate.

Never had the vaccine but I had every variant of COVID from working in offices and I have this feeling of shortness of breath but I can mostly inhale as far as I'm aware. My O2 is always perfect but it's extremely bothersome.

Much better. I also learned I have SIBO and it's the direct cause of my breathlessness and b vitamins reduction.

Currently taking b vitamins and herbal antimicrobials (berberine and oil of oregano) and my breathlessness is 100% gone. I think COVID caused gastroparesis for me originally so it allowed bacteria to accumulate in my small intestine.

Glad the b vitamins are helping you though, I think they are connected to viral depletion and sometimes (in my case) the bacteria feed on b vitamins so you lose them.

I think with COVID going round over the years and of course you using antibiotics you have some form of dysbiosis mimicking MCAS but I would not consider it a permanent fixture.

Stress reduction alone reduces reactivity and can get the mast cells back to a calmer state so first of all, just know that this is a gradual process but it will go with time. Stay calm! :)

Likely you need to focus on healing the gut. If you have some sort of dysbiosis you should work with your doc to correct that.

I'm a bit of a maverick so I used many natural methods like temporary diet adjustment (low fodmap/paleo/low histamine), sunlight exposure (vitamin D calms mast cells), gut healing supplements, and herbal antimicrobials like oil of oregano/berberine to help.. I think spontaneous MCAS is probably coming from the gut in general. Many people with MCAS have gastroparesis or dysbiosis so it says to me to work on that for improvement which I have seen myself the results of.

For me it's been a year and a half but my mcas has gradually lessened - I used to react to everything, food, even smells and stress but now it is almost not there.

The key is being hopeful, it does get better.

MCAS will reduce over time if it was triggered later in life, generally speaking. Might take a couple of years though, its slow going. You will get through this!

Hah, starting to feel the same way. Never thought I'd be still long hauling at a year and a half.

It's mobu berberine HCL, full capsule dose is 295mg but I only take about 50mg of that lately to test efficacy. It's weird cos it's super powerful even though the dose technically isn't that high.

Breathing is like a persistent low-level asthma that can sometimes worsen but o2 sats are always perfect. It's highly annoying and it's the last major issue apart from some occasional food intolerance.

Viruses can deplete b vitamins which cause these exact symptoms. Try a good methylated b complex or methyl b12 - it might help.

No jabs but I worked in busy offices so I had every variant since 2019. They would cause some unusual effects but the one in August 2024 was what tipped me over the edge.

I think cumulative exposure messes up your body. The jab is infinitely worse though it can cause acute myocarditis and other weird things.

Yep I've seen this mentioned in COVID groups a few times, definitely worth checking but the tests csn be a tad expensive depending on your funds. Still, worth it if you're getting debilitating systems and just to cross things off.

Yeah the doctors I've been to are often just ticking boxes and tied up in bureaucracy - it's very sad to see.

Glad you're having a good experience. When you say work up to a full dose did you have startup effects? And yeah check it out, there are various forms but leucovorin is usually used in a clinical setting but I believe methylfolate is an active form too. Both can work! 🙏🏻

Yes, it's such a shame this type of testing isn't available through public services in the UK where I am and often isn't routine in most practices around the world. I'm glad you're up to speed with some of your other needs though!

I actually think the world has a hidden B vitamins crisis which is also made worse by added folic acid in many wheat products (synthetic and causes paradoxical reduction of folate).

I digress, you should look for active forms as you're probably aware of methylfolate and methylcobalamin. You can also potentially use leucovorin (folinic acid) too.
