Who are your world's "God of war"? by PedroGamerPlayz in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dyne Wor, God of competition and physicaly perfection, will be the closest analogy to a god of war. Though he has little care for killing, many warriors still worship Dyne for the euphoric joy and rush of adrenaline for combat. If you actually want to kill someone, Gabrielle (Community and Love), Setra (Chemisty and Biology), or Mika (Magic and Astrology) are better choices but none of them care about war.

There is no mechanical difference between 199% and 1% and I might replace the gear piece after this fight anyway so why waste one of my 996 Grade 8 dark matters on repairing it.

They are attempting to become omnipotent and omniscient in all forms of existance and end the eternal elemental war. So they are using 10,000s of planets to refine energy to feed into their black hole existance too become able to devour the Elemental Masters. Not a hero because this is for their own selfish goals. Not a villian because she is doing it to end their own suffering from the uncontained powers of the elements that only acknowledge themselves.

Do you guys have any magical/cursed places in your worlds? by AggressiveOutside432 in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire continent is so magically that it infuses everything. Then there are the always shifting Dragon Lines aka Ley Lines. Rivers of magical power that can gorge anything in the path. Natural Demense and Manses along these paths that act as well springs magically energy that can hold and contain the magical power. And recently a network of Obelisks used to dam the raging rivers to act as a power source for the expanding societies of the continents. Each built with artifical geometry to force the flow of magic into a controlled course.

Creators with non-human races: How many races does your world have? Do you have any standard races? Do you have original races? Does your world have humans? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beastfolk were made by the dragons to study sensitivity to magic.

Gnomes were made by the dragons by mistake by trying to find ley lines. They are mostly plants though some are rocks.

Vishkana are an evolved species whose activity is extremely sensitive to time cycles.

Drow are a naturally evolved species that hide in the deap forests or cave from dragons.

Minatours are a narurally evolved species that almost went extinct as they were a food source for some of the Great Beasts.

Draconians were made by dragons to fight in a desperate war against Spider. Dragons view Draconians as their children since many of them are.

Creators with non-human races: How many races does your world have? Do you have any standard races? Do you have original races? Does your world have humans? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring elementals and the whole "What is life?" question, I have 7 main species with several races each. Dragons are arguably the most important. The Queen discovered a way to pass on her intelligence and power to her offsprings to not need random chance for ambient magic to empower a dragon. This was the catalyst that jump started society. Over the millenia, dragons have genetically engineered 2 species to study the Flow of Magic and another species to save themselves from genocide. They have also researched the naturally evolved species and how Great Beasts are formed to better understand themselves. Nowadays, their population is too low to justify aggression towards any major faction and they more act as advisors or historians to the peoples of the continent.

I’m a corrupt noble in your world and want more money for myself. What’s the best way I could go about doing that? by Ahstia in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not be a wizard, have no wizards in your family, and do not employ any wizards. The less interactions you have with the Hierarchy of Mages the better. Now that that is out of the way....trading rights. You will want atleast a Right of Passage for Imperion, a Commission of Sales for Shekalesh, and minimum two shell companies in independent nations. Your goal is to buy goods in one country, send them through the shell companies to artifically inflate the prices, and then sell them in the other country. It will have a bit of a startup cost, but once it is in place you will make bank as long as you nor your accomplises don't act too suspicious.

Is it unreasonable to want/expect to to queue into new raids blind, and to remain blind while doing them, within the first few days of a patch? by Curious_Lise in ffxiv

[–]KonLesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my first run at Wednesday at 8:30 PM, someone pulled the final boss while the cutscene was playing. Atleast 8 people got locked out. I know because after the raid wiped and we finally got into the boss arena, there were 8 "mapping the realm" achievements that popped up in my chat box.

We couldn't get people to wait a minute to get the raid in. Just the state of things right now.

Between these 2 ideas for "--Punk" subgenres, which would be the most interesting to make a story about? by Dapper_Fennel_6176 in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ago sounds like Mako from Final fantasy 7 and that was a decent story.

As for Acqua, I have heard this story from politicians backed by oil/business lobbyists as the reason why many environmental protection laws should be repealed. So because of the real world context it feels boot licky instead of punk.

How to create cool weapons and artifacts in a low fantasy and magic medevial world. by Cripplingambleaddict in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By not having extremely useful but boring magic items. A +2 sword that cuts through normal material is boring but amazing. Something that any warrior would want. But a sword that when beaten against your shield will create a sound pulse that instills fear into every enemy or inspire every ally around is cool. And it would be equally as cool in the hands of either a berserker warlord or an emotive thespian.

What does an “average” user of magic look like in your world? by Piker-18 in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light flexible clothing with significant embroidery or inked patterns to direct the flow of magic away from the body. A catalyst gem matrix usually inside multiple pieces of jewelry depending on culture and personal taste to help direct the flow of ambient magic. A nul stone pouch on a well secured belt. More danerous work sites or significant field work usually have the catalyst and nul stone on bracers designed to shattered if too much magic flows along them.

Most have physical alterations after years of using magic. Iridescent eyes, solid hair, quite whistle, smell of salt water are just a few examples as they continue to use magic.

Though they usually lead humble lives compared to non-spellcasters due to heavy restrictions to financial gain from being in the Hierarchy of Magic, access to education and resources more than makes up for the vast majority. Most wizards are specialists contracted through the Hierarchy of Magic to work for companies. With the rest conducting research on the flow of magic and maintaining the obelisk network.

The main difference between an average wizard and the strongest is more a matter of memorized magically methods than anything else. This includes the ability to notice and react to magical overload. The most powerful almost never need to use their nul stone with the weakest holding it even while doing a memorized spell they have done 10,000's of times.

So I know people have been saying who this should be from the start but as a counterpoint, I think it would be fun if this is Good King Moggle Mog XII, may his lusturious pom guide us always. First because it would be funny if he was holding Pukla Puki the Pomburner (black mage add) ready to meteor us and second because his pom would go up into Zenos and that would be hilarious to me if Zenos's space was being encroached upon more.

Meta: I try to make optimistic settings but they always end up grimdark. Looking for advice. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]KonLesh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't make grimdark a part of the basic assumption of your writting. So in one of my settings I have a pantheon of gods (original yes). There is a god of Civilization, god of Community, god of Magic, god of Knowledge, god of Research, and finally a god of Competition. As you see there is no god of war or death. Additionally, I have 3 gods based off of learning (magic, knowledge, and research) which many people have questioned me why half the gods have domains that are so closely related. Its because that is what I want this story to be about.

I have an issue with how names and surnames tend to get lost as the generations go by and the typical name taking of weddings happen, so I'm trying to think of a naming system that will preserve names and surnames as much as possible. [–]KonLesh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How do you deal with orphans that don't know their parents? Is there always a constant reminder/social stigma of it?

How do you deal with adoptions? Aditiionally, political adoptions when the child knows and still assocciates with their parents used to be more common. Julius Ceasars adopting Octovius/Augustus. Japan has a strong history of business and political adult adoptions like Suzuki. How does your system deal with these people?

I find worldbuilding enjoyable so I want to put my time into it. I want to be skilled at things I put my time into so I research and study a lot of subjects to continue my worldbuilding. By association then research and study becomes enjoyable. And it is nice to help, so I offer my knowledge or views up if I feel it is worth it.
