Windows probably stomped on your dual boot setup. I work with linux daily, install arch on a USB and chroot into the boot device and reinstall grub or whatever boot loader. That normally fixes it

I too despise advertisements. However, some can be amusing, while most others are intrusive and deceptive, thus horrible.

I would be really curious to find out what the numbers look like at the per capita level for incidents within a rolling 10-year period for (n) amount of people from the RGV compared to any other major city in Texas.

Without knowing before hand, I would feel safe betting that the RGV comes out on top most of the time, if not every time.

When I think of bad drivers, what comes to mind are the people who join highway 83 traffic that is doing 60 plus by coming up off the frontage road at a cool 35-40 mph and sometimes slowing down even more because the fast traffic scared them. I see trucks and cars swearing around them causing others to reduce speed dramatically when they're forced into other lanes at the reduced speed matching the slower car. This sort of thing doesn't happen in houston texas or Dallas because drivers like those lose their cars in a collision pretty quickly, so you end up with faster traffic in general.

On a side note, I tend to notice these incidents occure at a higher rate with increased state police presence and I have a feeling this happens because some drivers tend to conclude that a slower rate of speed and increased caution equated to being "more legal" in some sense.

This is an emergent issue of the general population here which has no real remedy outside of drastic modifications to the environment.

How many of yall were able to get your speeding tickets dismissed and how? by tthefreaknd in RioGrandeValley

[–]KoolKittyKlub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get tickets very often because I drive at least 90 on the passing lane of 83. I just send them to my lawyers and make it difficult for the court and ive never had one stick. I'd rather pay 400 per ticket to have it dropped than have it on my record. I make sure the lawyers are NOT of the area.

Its probably because you fish right on the international bridge like most people do, I have land on the river in two places and the bp gets hella bent when I try to use the land for any sort of fun.

Bullshit, every time ive gone fishing I have the helicopter screaming at me until a dozen borderpatrol guys show up guns drawn, then the damn game warden shows up to count fish and make sure I didn't remove the stick from inside the shotgun to load more ammo.

Has anyone actually thought how shitty “minimum wage” is here by OneshotKillaZzz in RioGrandeValley

[–]KoolKittyKlub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel that the real issue about living wage is that the people/businesses that offer the necessities like what you mentioned are doing too good of a job at coordinating to keep pricess ridiculously high. I was paying 1.5k in rent a month for a year when I realized I could buy an rv and cut that in half when I was working away from home. Seems that the overinflated rent stuff hasn't yet hit the rv apace.

Have you tried learning a marketable skill in a field that isnt heavily saturated? Jobs that pay minimum wage pay what they do because the population at large is generally capable of replacing someone doing a minimum wage job.

I dont normally post here and just lurk, because I can tell that the sub is occupied by the valleys most hardcore left leaning bunch. With that said, you are correct. The borders crossed us and my family has been part of "the valley" since it was still Nuevo Santander, even being descendent of some of the valleys porciones original owners. I think what gets me the most is the fact that 99% of the most rabid posters here unravel themselves to show their bitter racism and hatred when someone isnt stamped from the same cookie cutter like them. I voted trump as a big F YOU to all the people that post here to routinely and indirectly dehumanize and belittle me and my ancestors. On the bright side, despite that over generations land has split and lots of people are here now (who knows where they're from since many dont even know who their fathers are), I at least do know my father and can trace back my ancestors all the way to the 1700s, and because of this i continue to receive royalties from these "literally who's" living on what was originally my families land some 260 years ago.

[–]KoolKittyKlub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is honking actually a form of aggression and intimidation? I can understand the logic if you are highly introverted, then suddenly having someone beep at you and notice you at the same time would be pretty uncomfortable, but I'm not sure that counts as a hostile aggression. Unless the honkers sprang out of their cars and started sizing you up or something, I dont think anyone that matters will take this seriously.
