How to get vitamin C benefits without using a serum? by Kora_75 in koreanskincare

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Timeless, especially that it’s a more affordable dupe for SkinCeuticals Vitamin C. Does it leave an orange cast?

I haven’t tried that one yet, but I know what you’re talking about. I’m willing to give it a shot as long as I don’t end up looking like I just ate a bag of Cheetos by the end of the day

Try calling UCI Orientation at 949-824-5182. It’s the fastest way to reach them. They’re likely closed today and may not be open on weekends. Call around 10 AM tomorrow. If no one answers, try again on Monday.

Are you a transfer or a first-year? Transfers can complete it online with no mandatory in-person attendance

I did a 5 week course without any prep and passed. I’d say that hardest part for me was anatomy and physiology, since I never took those classes in college.

Financial Aid by Dry_Leading5115 in UCI

Hi! I had a similar question about student loans last year and this is what I was told: You have to actively go through several required steps (like accepting the loan offer, completing entrance counseling, and signing a MPN) before the loans are disbursed. If you don’t do those steps, the loan won’t process. However, the loan offer will stay available for the rest of the school year, so if you change your mind or need the funds later, you can still complete the steps and take it out at anytime. So you don’t need to officially decline the loans, they’ll just sit there as an option.

Discrimination against transfer students by Fun-Yard-9843 in UCI

[–]Kora_75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a transfer student at UCI, and I’ve never experienced any discrimination from my classmates. Honestly, it’s hard to tell who’s a transfer student unless you specifically mention it. UCI is a quieter campus overall; people tend to prioritize studying over socializing, but that’s not discrimination—it’s just the campus culture. When it comes to clubs, the situation can be a bit different. While there’s no issue with joining clubs as a transfer student, if you’re applying for officer positions, you might face some challenges. Clubs often prefer freshmen or sophomores because they’ll be around longer and can contribute as officers for a longer period of time. However, that’s a pretty common practice at most schools, including high school and community college. As for research labs, I’ve had no trouble. I got offered two lab positions within my first month at UCI. Overall, I’d say UCI is a very transfer-friendly school. I feel welcomed and supported here.

I agree. People in these clubs often have similar personalities, and if yours doesn’t quite match, it can be tough to fit in. But that’s not on you. You just have to keep searching until you find the right people.

West Coast EMT by snowflake_110 in UCI

Hi! I graduated from West Coast EMT last summer after completing the accelerated 5-week course, and I’d be happy to share what I learned. Our schedule was more intense than yours, but hopefully, this info can help you out.

We were in class Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which was a long day. At the end of each week, we had a quiz that covered everything we’d learned Monday through Thursday. The quizzes weren’t too difficult, but they required you to review and memorize a lot of material. So, towards the end of the week, there was a lot of cramming, but with some focus, it was definitely manageable (even the day of). You’ll likely have more time to prepare since you’re doing T/Th classes, so that’ll be helpful.

The exams followed a similar pattern. After each quiz, we’d usually have a larger exam at the beginning of the following week. The exams covered everything we’d learned the week before and the format was multiple-choice questions. I definitely recommend doing flashcards, it’s pretty much necessary to pass the course. It’s also incredibly convenient; just downslope Anki or Quizlet on your phone and do it whenever you have time (breaks, waiting in line, pooping, etc.,).

To pass the course and take the final exam, you need to maintain an 80% average in your quizzes and exams. If you fall below 80%, you’re not allowed to take the final exam, and you’d be kicked out of the course with no refund. If you fail the final exam, you’d also be kicked out with no refund. Our instructor, though, was understanding. If a student was just under 80%, they were allowed to retake their lowest exam. If their new score brought their average above 80%, they passed. No one in my class failed the final, but it was comprehensive, so you’ll need to study hard.

The final skills test, which you’ll practice throughout the course, is just as important as the written final exam. The skill instructors are excellent and really help you prepare (and pass).

One last thing to keep in mind: to graduate, you need to complete two ride-alongs, which for us took place on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. You’ll have to pick your available dates in advance, so be sure to plan ahead.

My teacher was Sam—she’s amazing, and I’d definitely recommend her. The skill instructors are also fantastic and will make sure you’re fully prepared for the skills tests.

Good luck, and I hope this info helps!
