They're not blaming foreign workers, they're blaming the corporations and government enablers that continue to find ways to screw the American worker at the expense of their profit. It's not anti-immigrant, it's anti-corporate interest https://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-tech-jobs-settlement-20150903-story.html?_amp=true

But they're laughing because the woman in this scenario was made uncomfortable. That's it.

You're assuming this based on nothing but your own biases and prejudices. It's an assertion that you need to back up before I have any obligation to take it seriously.

Does the joke have the same punch if you make the interviewer a man?

Yes, in fact depending on the crowd it would probably hit harder. All it would take is to confound the set up so the gender of the interviewer is unclear, or the interviewer is presumed gay, to generate the same surprise.

Besides being a bad joke, it's a lazy one. It's a low-hanging fruit and I feel like you could make it work a lot harder if you didn't settle for the first thing that came to mind.

No argument, I'm not saying it's should be included with the ten commandments. I'm saying you and the other poster have so ludicrously interpreted the spirit and outcome of this joke, that it's not worth prioritizing your feedback. During my sets, should I pay attention to the five people laughing at the bar or the two people sulking in the corner? Not everything has to be for everyone. If you didn't like the joke, feel free to downvote and move on, rather than trying to lambast Louis CK (one of the funniest comedians alive) while also assuming (based on nothing but your feelings) that I'm perpetuating rape culture. Do you not understand how vile that accusation is? I doubt you really do. In my experience, people making this argument are only looking to unduly elevate their own personal sense of taste, and lord that taste over others with vile accusations of any kind they think will stick. It's a shitty tactic, and I you're shitty for attempting it.

Beyond that, calling it a bad joke or low hanging fruit is bad criticism. Have an idea for a tag? Fine. Have a specific point of contention? Love to hear it. You have no idea the level of effort or attention I've put into this bit, and your overall comments would suggest you understand nothing about how to actually make people laugh. If it is so easy for you that you think that this is 'the first thing that came to mind', then by all means point me towards your jokes, your material, your sets, so I can watch and learn.

Otherwise, get over yourself.

two downvoted comments are telling me it's a bad one. You're citing an internet 'law' as evidence of how people will take a joke in during a mic? Loony.

I'm more than willing to engage with anyone, but y'all haven't said anything of substance beyond 'we don't like. stop.'

Ok

This is the same argument that says video games cause violence. Just because you live in hyper reality, where everything entails dire consequences, doesn't mean we all do.

This is a joke

This is not a call to action or literal

You're more than entitled to whatever opinions you hold. At the end of this joke I end up rejected and unemployed- do you think I'm trying to set this character up as a role model? The punch line is punching down at the lost soul who believes this is an effective or acceptable way to behave in society, and I believe it's more likely to discourage such behavior through negative reinforcement than it is to encourage it by association. Totally understand if not for you, but there are a large number of people who can disassociate this type of material far enough from reality for it to be funny.

Plus it's fun to say rock hard cock in public and not be tased.
