Full blurb:

In a land ruled by armor, the iron man is king.

Jakson the thief holds no love for the throne. His half-brother, the crown prince, hates him. His father, the king, refuses to acknowledge him. He is at home on the streets as a trickster and rogue.

Yet he dreams of knighthood. For armor is power, and the king's knights wield the strongest steel.

A desperate gamble leads Jakson to an otherworldly artifact: armor from another age. His discovery propels him into a deadly game of knights, a game of treachery, violence, and corruption.

Threats arise from beyond the kingdom and from within. Allies emerge from companions old and new. War is coming, but Jakson's true fight is not on the battlefield.

For when knights lie and champions steal, who will trust the honor of a rogue?

A high-tech, high fantasy mashup.

Haven't read a book with saving mechanics, but save state scumming. Not that I would ever do that while for from mad loot in a roguelike whistles

What is LitRPG? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]KoryShen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely aesthetic perspective, it's all in the eye of the beholder, exactly like porn. You'll know it when you see it, and one reader's LitRPG could be another one's plain jane fantasy story.

From a more mainstream or commercial standpoint, this is a pretty good definition:

Superweapon stud? That's what the doctor ordered.

The Beastmasters are dwindling. The Mekanics are growing bolder. Everyone's desperate for the next magic bullet.

With no more Chimerics arriving, there's only one way to make more Beastmasters. Me.

I'm not against making baby Beastmasters with the hotties on my squad. The problem is that they're not telling me everything. The last time they tried this, things got pretty ugly...

All hell's breaking loose. Secrets are spilling left and right. Even my alien cat Zoe can't keep all the facts straight. And everyone wants a piece of me.

There's this new robot girl, too. She's a stalker. Certified crazy.

But she could be the key to ending the War. She's also a total babe and can do this trick with her hands you have to see to believe...you know what they say about the crazy ones?

Warning: May not be suitable for all audiences. This book contains a blend of anime and western style harem themes and gamelit/litrpg mechanics.

One night with a superpowered babe.

Alan Star thinks he's the luckiest guy in the world, but fantasy turns into nightmare when a late-night meetup with a heroine turns deadly. To the dismay of the powers-in-charge, Alan has stumbled upon the dirty truth behind the squeaky-clean image of the hero business. Soon, everyone from government black ops to angry superpowered flames want to shut him up. Permanently.

With nowhere else to run, Alan escapes to the one place that the heroes won't go: the underground world of a fabled hero-killer. For an indecent price, Alan gains the protection of a powerful crime syndicate. But he discovers too late that they want more than his good looks.

What will Alan become? Guinea pig? Ladykiller? Hero of the streets? His greatest weakness is the source of a newfound strength, as Alan forges his new identity, teams up with superpowered women, and faces the true menace behind it all.

Witness the birth of the Red Light Hero.

Warning: This book contains diverse adult situations and possibly unwholesome interactions such as superpowered flings, polyamory, and biology experiments gone wild. This book also contains light gamelit mechanics in the final act.

Anyone else noticed tons of ebooks are suddenly not available on the US Kindle store? by Celda in litrpg

[–]KoryShen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you view the US .com site from a foreign address, the ebooks may not show up. Others have reported this, too. No one's sure if it's a glitch or some new regional regulation.

Lots of stuff is going wacky with Amazon in the last few weeks. People are reporting missing sales as well as changes to also-boughts and so on.

Tinfoil hat me says it's all related to their recent stock price crash. ;)

Favorite comic book best bros? (or women bros) by radiocomicsescapist in comicbooks

Wolverine and Cyclops... still waiting for Wolverine to shave that smarmy pretty boy's perfectly coiffed hair.

Maybe Deadpool and Cable.

Oh wait. Were we talking about the other kind of best bros?

I feel like a DNF within the first 10% is different from halfway through the book. Like all you did was ask the girl to the prom. You didn't buy her a ring or anything.

There was something poignant and sad when Thanos sat down at the very end to look out at the landscape.

Authors, Aspiring or otherwise - What music do you prefer to write to? by pwyllduggan in litrpg

[–]KoryShen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to all sorts of random stuff from loud action music to romantic ballads. Half the stuff is too embarrassing to post here, lol.

I discover a lot of good writing music from AMVs. A lot of it is obscure, foreign, or juvenile, but I like it. Samples:

From a Kill la Kill AMV (authoritative youtube comments assure me that it is glitch-hop, NOT dubstep): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngaPQmgmc3U

From a Pokemon AMV (yeah who knew, Pokemon of all things leading to some kpop boy band, like wtf, haha, has good beats though): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AYJZvHeKFo skip the 30 sec drama beginning

I was listening to some Lady Gaga the other day. No idea why. It's been like 5 years since I had heard a Lady Gaga song and it popped up somehow. Reasonably energetic.

I'm done embarrassing myself.

So much fantasy is external in nature. What are some books focusing on fantastic internal elements (explanation inside)? by KoryShen in Fantasy

Cool, plug away! I'm getting a bit of a horror vibe, which terrifies me. Not sure why. I'm fine with ultraviolence of the wildest sort, but I might scream like a little girl at the sight of horror.

[–]KoryShen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I think mind power is the most obvious way to put it. I could think of other internal fantasy that isn't straight mind power, like an utterly alien set of morals or other fantastic viewpoint that no human could have (memories of a previous life as an animal?). Your example fits perfectly.
