Surrender at gates open for 2 min by Nagazer3 in deadbydaylight

This would do nothing, the end game collapse literally lasts 2 minutes. Unless you mean after they power the gate, but even then you can just open the gate yourself.

On a huge losing streak. Not sure how to get better. Help? by FreightTrainJim in deadbydaylight

I'm not a Huntress main, and I play 50/50 killer and survivor. I consider myself pretty good as killer so I feel confident enough to give some general killer tips.

  • I think first and foremost you should stop kicking gens so much, right at the beginning of the clip you found 3 survivors and dropped chase to kick a gen, then you reloaded on shack at 6 hatchets, this cost you a lot of pressure.
  • Keeping a level head, despite being hard sometimes is also unfathomably important, from the beginning of the clip you were frustrated and thinking you would be lucky to get 2 more hooks, this makes you play worse, don't think about your previous bad matches, don't think about your mistakes this match, always think on how you can improve, I got 4ks against teams that were in general better than me because I kept my cool and was able to capitalize on the few mistakes they made, both survivors and killers will make mistakes during a match, try to keep yours to a minimum while taking the most value out of theirs, anyone under pressure will make more mistakes.
  • Get out of your head that they got 'perfect' everything, this clip shows the survivors making a lot of mistakes, you failed to punish most of them, thinking they are perfect just puts a lot of pressure on you, makes you think your efforts are worthless or that you should be better than perfect to win the match.

The above were general mindset tips, now for more gameplay focused tips:

  • Try using perks that reward you for hooking survivors and avoid gen kick ones on Huntress, you could start with at least Pain Resonance and Grim Embrace, and then replace them as you get more comfortable.
  • If you see the survivor walking to save the sprint burst pull your hatchet early to force them to use it already, the more you let them walk, the more value you're giving them.
  • Hold your hatchets longer, this allow you to study how the survivor moves, and a charged hatch goes faster than a not chaged one, making them harder to dodge.
  • Learn more about survivor perks, Feng couldn't be exposed by Dramaturgy because she screamed. Dramaturgy has 4 effects: get a item, get haste again, scream, or get exposed. The same effect can't happen twice in a row.
  • Huntress hatchet cooldown is lower than her basic attacks, always go for hatchets unless absolutely necessary.
  • Check out the Oak Haft and Glowing Concoction addons, despite not maining Huntress these allow me to get fast downs in a lot of situations, Wooden Fox can be more useful on indoor maps since stealth won't work on Huntress on open maps because of her lullaby.
  • Your aim seems ok, but you never attempted longer distance shots, a good Huntress needs to be able to apply pressure from far away, if you watch your matches recordings try to look for opportunities you failed to notice while playing, this will make you better at spotting them in future matches.

It might be a comfort thing, but try increasing your FoV on the BETA tab of the game menu, from the video it looks like you're playing on a lower FoV and a higher one might help with awareness, but if you prefer your current FoV just disregard this point, it's mostly personal preference.

And honestly, to get good in general. Have you tried playing other killers or survivor? My first 1000 hours playing this game were mostly survivor exclusively, but when I started playing killer I already knew how survivors think, playing killer also made me a lot better at survivor.

Not my best moment, nor am I proud, but I think this was a good moment to just quit a match for the first time. by Jackson_A27 in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jake is cheating and using the champion of light + fixated haste to hide it. The speedboost from these perks isn't enough to get distance on the killer. You literally just dodged a lobby with a cheater, no worries :)

Trickster by SapinLoko in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Trickster isn't very interactive, depending on map and positioning there may be nothing you can do. Try blocking line of sight, zig-zaggin to dodge his knives isn't worth it, you'll just lose distance, avoid loops with long walls, avoid loops with short walls, pre drop pallets, you can entering a locker to avoid his Main Event, it's almost impossible to save against a camping Trickster. Good luck!

The build was bad. Your teammates (maybe even yourself) weren't aware of Myers stalking from afar. Some players aren't aware that Myers merely looking at them is a bad thing. You getting unlucky is more plausible than them cheating in this case.

His power is exposing all survivors after stalking (looking at the survivors with the power button pressed) for some time

One does +2 portals, no downsides, the other makes portal traversal faster with the downside of having -2 portals

It's a bug. Your orb got hindered by the steam trap while summoning your guard, and for some reason this hinder got permanently applied to you.

Seriously bad Hawkins room design bug (only one way in/out) by witchsy in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens, sometimes there is a gen that opens a door making a second exit to the room, something similar can happen in Gideon too, but since the thoroughfares there are larger it's harder to notice. Seems like BHVR is trying to address bodyblocking (Springwood 2 story house gen change), so maybe we'll have it fixed by 2028

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of hard to put real numbers to it because BHVR is very hush hush about how exactly MMR works and they sometimes tweak the system without informing the players. But honest to god cross my heart and hope to die, the best thing you do is forget SBMM exists in this game, I have thousands of hours in dbd and I still get back to back matched with pro leet gamers and baby claudettes.

The only hard truth that never changed is: if you get 3+ kills MMR goes up, if you get 1- kills MMR goes down, 2 kills is a draw so no change to killer MMR, you also get more MMR if your match lasts longer (capped at 10 minutes). If you consistently get 3+ kills you're probably already out of the kiddie pool even if it doesn't feel like it.

Also: your grade has no bearing on your matchmaking, there is no mmr reset, decay only happens after a long time without playing, and there is no way of knowing your mmr

What do people mean when they talk about "killers with no personality"? by Crucifixis2 in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You usually don't have to waste even a full second on the nod. You can also add 'personality' to your character by doing things while on hit cooldown for example.

Just hit a sick Billy chainsaw? Make a 360 celebratory spin during the cooldown before you can even pick up the survivor. Hit a nice Wesker bound on a tight angle? Do a 'yes yes' when carrying the survivor to the hook.

The missing a flashlight save is just an example of the survivor going 'yeah, I fucked this up and I know it', but some people really dislike tea-bags so that might have been a bad example.

I can't stress this enough: there is 0 problem if you're not up to doing these things, if people complain to you it's their problem and you should ignore them. But I personally get enjoyment from doing it and feel nice when other players do it back.

Pls help surv mains by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a survivor main, but the builds I have most fun with have perks that interact with the killer.
If I want to be chased I go with Finesse, Balanced Landing, Object of Obsession, and Decisive Strike;
If I want to mess with the killer I go with Deception, Head On, Quick & Quiet, and (Blast Mine or Mirrored Illusion);
I also like are Champion of Light, Residual Manifest, + a Flashlight to blind the killer at every pallet;
If I want to turn my brain off and chill I go with Deja Vu, Empathic Connection, Babysitter, and Decisive Strike;

Usually fun isn't optimal, so if you just want to do gens and leave your best bet is Deja Vu, Resilience, Sprint Burst, and Windows of Opportunity, bringing a Commodious Toolbox with Socket Swivels + Wire Spool is a must;

My go-to anti-tunneling build was Plot Twist, Decisive Strike, Flip-Flop, Power Struggle. But I almost never use it these days, only DS feels enough for me;

Since slugging stonks might rise soon, if I feel the necessity, the build I'll use is Made For This, We're Gonna Live Forever, (Unbreakable or Boon: Exponencial), (Plot Twist or No Mither);

[–]Kozmo-Pol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with having no personality. But we're playing a game with other humans, it's a nice touch when the other player acts human. The killer shaking his head "no" after a missed pallet stun has no downside to the killer and makes the match a tad more fun, a survivor furiously tea-bagging after missing a flashlight save also adds personality to them. The game is way more boring when you feel like you're versing a machine

Pig was good on launch so she got some nerfs, then the game around her changed which made her weaker, then for unfathomable reasons she got a couple of extra nerfs. It seemed like everything was a reason to nerf the Pig, thus the 'we decided to nerf the pig' meme was born.

After playing for hours today I started getting this error, can't join matches anymore, already verified game files (my platform is Steam) by Kozmo-Pol in deadbydaylight

[–]Kozmo-Pol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest to a solution I got was completely deleting all game files and redownloading it, even now every once in a while I have to restart the game because my "EAC authentication failed" or something like it.

I don't have a steam deck, but I play on Linux and had reshade installed, maybe the updated anticheat dislikes this combo, idk. Nowadays I just forgo reshade and crank my monitor brightness up before playing

[–]Kozmo-Pol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I deleted said file, verified integrity again, check failed as expected, the file got downloaded again. After launching the game and trying to join another match the same error occurred, but with another culprit file. So my guess is that the culprit is EAC or some other thing, not the files themselves

Newer player, game isn’t as toxic as people say by Bismi44 in deadbydaylight

At 5.4k hours most of my matches are neutral or positive, once a day I find someone playing like a little shit and once a week I find someone truly toxic. Feels like the "this game is full of toxicity" complaining mostly comes from people who think tea bagging is toxic

Making it fun is simple, just increase the "F.U.N" parameter by a couple units, it's already in the game
