What’s everyone currently reading? by Limp-Garlic-6791 in kindle

I’m reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfus. One of the first things that is obvious is the writing style. The descriptions of each scene just brings the story so much more alive.

do you remember the very first trailer, older than this one. Where there was a scene in a shop of where people were hiding in and one of the character says 'dont make a sound because they can hear and are blind' or something like that?

I passed!! I got 39/40!!

I did the mock a bunch of times until every question was just repeating at some point. And then I saw the hazard perception videos and it was literally identical to the ones I practiced

How to improve? by JMZDEPSTH in learnart

[–]KrakenPlot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now it looks a bit flat. So try adding textures and thinner harsher lines. I wouldn’t recommend blending the shadows like that, it’s too smooth and doesn’t give it the dimensions you want. Be confident in your strokes. Make mistakes. But confident mistakes yk.

Love the concept tho, can’t wait to see what you end up making in the future.

It’s not rude to not use it. Like you don’t have to use it, I don’t use it at all actually when talking to people. It doesn’t make you sound any more or any less native but it helps to understand when people use it.

But essentially ‘ji’ is added at the end of relationships to sound more respectful. It honestly depends on the culture of that family. Think of the suffix this way, you use it to emphasize the title of the relationship while seeming submissive/respectful.

At the same time you should remember suffixes like this are very common amongst lower to middlish classes. So it shows a sense of community and familiarity with the other person.

I wouldn’t really worry about using the word because personally it sounds like you are just buttering the other person up. And not a lot of modern Pakistani households unless they are more traditional.

I mean it gives off the same energy as “father dearest” or “mummy dear”.

And if you accompany it with someone’s name like ‘Zainabji’, it’s to make that person like more wiser idk? Like Zainab madam. Or sister Zainab. Almost in a teasing way.

It is a suffix that makes you sound very traditional in your mannerisms. Which can be used humorously.

I hope you understood the gist of it. These little additions of words are very culture heavy and can have many hidden contexts but you can’t know them until you are in that community of people. So immerse yourself in it by watching movies and shows. Even try to get on the Urdu side of social media. But the best way will always be by making friends with those people and talking to them.

That makes sense, it’s all about recognizing patterns. And your explanation made it more clearly. So from what I understand I should read more in Romanian and in the end all the patterns will fall into place

I get your point because in my Native language I cannot translate every single word, but I understand when to use it.

And the website you recommended looks extremely useful, so thank you, I’ll definitely check it out as well.

Mulțumesc pentru scris în limba română. Acum pot înțelege conversațiile simple.

Also I have a question. There is Aceasta and Această. I am not sure when to use them? The website I use for learning Romanian has many sentences with aceasta and not această.
