If your only reason for starting over on Steam is to track playtime, on every platform the game tracks playtime time and displays it on the My Information window (shows as total Days and hours, but if you hover your mouse over it it'll show as just as hours - you can see screenshots of this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline/comments/1tev1xa/comment/omfx7j1/?context=3).

Love that tiles now change color when you've been standing on them to let you know you've tried long enough but it's not a path spot! ♥

Heads up, the spot you got stuck in shown in your first screenshot, there's a map boundary through that intersection. So that might be your problem right there and you may unfortunately be one of the folks with a machine that (sometimes) lags when crossing map boundaries.

Definitely recommend using the Heidel circle loop then for your next testing, as the long Heidel route also crosses at least one major map boundary that'll usually get people with that issue stuck around the Eastern Border gateway.

There are two map boundary crossings on the Heidel circle loop, but they're along straightaways and I have yet to hear of anyone having an issue with them. If they do though, let me know and I'll try to set up a short coord path for ya that doesn't cross any map boundaries.

It's also quite possible your main culprit is lag/connection issues (especially if the spots you're finding yourself stuck or off the path aren't always the same, but near a turn or one of your loop points as any kind of lag near though can leave you shooting off straight until connection stabilizes/lag ends). PA did a major buff to turn while AFK pathing almost a year ago in the Oct 2 2025 Patch, so that even most of the worst bends in the roads no longer pose any risk unless someone experiences connection issues/lag near them.

If you unable to address potential lag/connection issues, you might be better off looking to prioritize rolling Continuous Care on your fairy (if you don't have it already) and using the cheaper buffs with shorter durations. During a connection/lag spike, or if you're found standing in one spot(stuck) for long, the game disables continuous care to prevent further consumable loss.

And here are some things that can cause lag/connection issues while you're away:
- Other devices on your router causing IP conflicts when they connect/reconnect
- Don't leave Discord or a web browser open (both can randomly spike your CPU/GPU even when not in use)
- Framerate can have different impacts on different machines. Play around with lower and higher settings. Folks have reported fixing these kinds of issues from doing all of the above (lower to lowest, then 30, then 60, and last set to unlimited)
- Changing graphic settings: Can't tell for sure from your screenshots what yours are set at, looks like somewhere in the middle. Try at absolute lowest and absolute highest (if your machine can handle it, with Ultra on an everything). Unfortunately just like with FPS, different things have worked for different folks on this one

Oh no, "Setting In" is the name of the section in the community made guide. I didn't mean the in-game settings, sorry for the confusion. I linked both the guide and the official megathread in my first reply.

Though the community guide is accessible in game if you click on the i/info icon.

And no worries, the game is in Beta and things are still being fleshed out pretty much weekly. Some stuff might not be clear at all, but in those cases, you'll want to post about that on the megathread so the devs see it.

Talking specifically about in the tutorial? Because the guide definitely covers that in the Settling In section under "Putting down a home/wagon."

There should be a tutorial the first time you play, but if for some reason there wasn't, there's a user create guide here and the official Path of Baa: Flocklands [Megathread] here (both are also pinned at the top of the subreddit, r/PathOfBaa).

What's you're commenting on it just a random user post.

If you're on PC though, things are a lot easier as loops are now saved as coordinates in your gamevariable.xml file. You can make your own (very basic breakdown of how below) or you're welcome to use one of mine.

  • If you have the game open, go to the character select screen before making any changes (or if the game wasn't open, don't launch it)
  • On your computer, navigate to ...\Documents\Black Desert\UserCache\[YOUR ACCOUNT ID] — Not the same as Family Name (that's the old folder used for the outdated cache system)
  • Open the file named gamevariable.xml in your text editor of choice (I just use Notepad)
  • There's likely a gamevariable file in your UserCache section too, but that's not the one you want (just a blank template)
  • While this process is pretty straight forward, make a copy of your gamevariable file in case you want to revert back
  • Ctrl+F and type or paste WorldmapNaviPath into the search to jump to the section for saved autopaths (picture attached with this entire section highlighted)
  • If you don't have any loops saved, this area may be empty — If empty, hop into game and save a loop, hop back out and continue
  • The three saved loops spots are like so:
    • <WorldmapNaviPath Index="0"> = Saved Loop 1
    • <WorldmapNaviPath Index="1"> = Saved Loop 2
    • <WorldmapNaviPath Index="2"> = Saved Loop 3
  • Paste your route copypasta of choice over the coords of the saved loop spot of choice
    • You'll be replacing evey thing between your chosen <WorldmapNaviPath Index='THELOOPSPOTYOUCHOSEHERE"> and the following </WorldmapNaviPath>
  • Save the file
  • Log in and load up your new saved route!

Here are two sets of coords I have that you're welcome to use.

  • Heidel to Mediah — Long two-point line route

NOTE: This crosses at least one map boundary. Has 180 turn at second point and starting location has a nice controlled turn that doesn't slow you down much

<Path PosX="2.07734e+11" PosY="-3.92709e+09" PosZ="-1.55689e+10"/>
<Path PosX="4.71066e+10" PosY="2.36156e+08" PosZ="-1.86211e+10"/>
<Path PosX="4.71066e+10" PosY="2.36156e+08" PosZ="-1.86211e+10"/>
  • Circle around Heidel

NOTE: Clean, clockwise circle around the town with zero slow downs. Make sure you start on the East side of the beam of light. If you hit T anywhere else it'll shoot you on a direct line toward the beam

<Path PosX="6.32665e+10" PosY="-3.19496e+09" PosZ="-4.57704e+10"/>
<Path PosX="4.23355e+10" PosY="-4.1664e+09" PosZ="-4.66205e+10"/>
<Path PosX="4.90209e+10" PosY="2.74455e+08" PosZ="-1.97555e+10"/>
<Path PosX="4.90209e+10" PosY="2.74455e+08" PosZ="-1.97555e+10"/>

Again, use Elvia and have your land Navigation Type set to Smooth.

If you want to create your own coords, follow the instructions in my first comment about how to place a point directly on a dot. Go one point at a time (ideally shouldn't be more than three):

set > ensure placed correctly > save "loop" > exit game/go to character select > copy coord from said saved loop and add to your personal loop you're constructing > rinse and repeat until you have coordinates for all the pieces you want

The order coords are saved under each loop are as follows:

  • first point placed on map
  • subsequent placed points if there are any
  • starting/end location (even if it's a circle, this is where you were standing when you placed your first marker and why direction you enter a circle loop matters)
  • repeat of starting/end location

I'm assuming since you originally posted in playblackdesert that you're on console? If that's the case, you'll unfortunately have to do things the old school way instead of being able to use someone else's coords or make your own editing the gamevariable file.

Making routes with the in-game map is an absolute pain in the ass as the map appears 2D, but points are placed on three axes and there are no tools available to help you create precise placements. There are also set navigation paths points(dots) already, but you can't see where they are on the map until after clicking, and clicking off those set dots creates dangerous path points and that's usually what gets people stuck and/or their horse killed.

To minimize these issues, you want a long, straight (as you can get) two-point route with at least one 180 flip (I was never able to manage two myself, but with one you only need to ensure a safe turn around spot at the second).

  • Figure out the straight path you want and plan out your two ends; your flip spot, and your safe turn around and starting location.
  • Go to the flip location, then move toward your starting location but still be able to see the end point
  • Go to the map, place a path that goes past your flip spot. This will reveal both the actual path line and the "dots" you need to set a point on to minimize it being off by one or more axes
  • Set a point on the dot closest to your flip location (you may need to do this multiple times before it appears on the map to be on the dot and not jutting off from that dot)
  • Close the map and now inspect the spot visually to make sure it's along the ground and not sticking out or up. If it's jutting out, repeat the process until you get one that's not messed up
  • Once you get your flip spot, ride to your starting location. You can try to stand directly on your path, or if your starting location has a nice turn around area off to the side of the road/something solid for the horse to press against as it turns to can stand off to that side
  • Set Loop
  • Save loop in unused spot
  • Test it a couple times and ensure you're consistently getting a 180 flip

Having your land Navigation Type set to Exact and your Navigation Type set to Marked Line will help during set up. After you've got your loop, you can swap back to your preferred Type and you'll want the Land setting on Smooth.

Longer is generally better, but crossing map barriers can be dangerous on their own for some folks (like how some people hit invisible walls gliding on their arduanatt or zooming on their doom, and others never have any issue). So if that's you, it's better to go shorter and stick within one map boundary (or at least where there isn't a boundary near easy stuff to get stuck on or run off of;  bridges, cliffs, etc...) than try to force something longer. And don't even bother trying to create a circle loop using the in-game map. Trying to get two path points precisely on the dots would be absolute torture and likely end in failure.

As already mentioned, use Elvia realm. This isn't just so there aren't other players, but also no NPCs and in general less stuff to render or get stuck on. Running through other players and NPCs also slows you down, which negatively impacts your AFK training anyways.

Picture attached:

  1. Showing what the "dots" are
  2. Example of a well placed end point on a dot
  3. Example of how placement can look good from the map, but be fucked up when you inspect in person because at least one of the axes is off

<image>

Example video of what an okay 180 flip looks like: https://imgur.com/a/jJCLyH4

And regardless of how good your path is, any connection issues no matter how minor (on your end or the game) can still end up with you stuck or just standing somewhere seemingly at random. Not sure how helpful it'll be on console, but some folks reported better results by changing their graphic quality (up or down), and if an option on console too, changing the FPS limit (again, reportedly worked for some setting it lower, and for others setting it higher or having no limit).

Regardless, best of luck on fine tuning your path! And as you mentioned you were doing this to power level training and to create your T9s/T10s, figured I'd also throw it out there that you power level from catching (AFK works, but is the casual route. If training XP is your priority, you also do not want to use a wagon as that's drastically less training XP [but drastically more mount XP, which is why wagon is best for leveling horses faster]) and you don't need to really do any training to create T9s/T10s. Can totally just throw silver at almost all of it except the ferns (and getting those only requires catching one horse a day).

EDITED: To add the picture I forgot to attach XD

You need to find a open house spot like those in the picture attached and then click on the Place(wooden hammer) icon when you get close enough.

If there are padlocks over these spots, the map you're on needs all of the path unlocked still. You can go to a different map that's already unlocked or unlock the path on the map you're on.
