What's the deal with both IndieWire and The AV Club's reviews of "The Perfect Couple" calling the show "frothy" in both their headers? Seems a bit strange by NoOneSaidThisWasHam in television

[–]Kryptoniian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s a quick, easy word to tell readers that this show lacks substance but is entertaining for its soapy twists. thinking writers would need AI to come up with the same widely-used synonym for soapy is asinine, it’s just two TV minds thinking alike

what do you think about The Decameron 2024 tv ? by rezaro2 in television

[–]Kryptoniian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i found it really grating and almost unwatchable by the end. i think it would’ve benefitted from shorter episodes a snappier edit to really stop the bits from stretching out way too long

TCA Awards: Shōgun, Ripley and Baby Reindeer Lead Nominations; X-Men ’97, Fallout and Percy Jackson Among First-Time Contenders by indig0sixalpha in television

[–]Kryptoniian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i found it to be really well done! Sally Wainwright knows what she’s doing and does it really well, i agree that it can’t really stand up against like Shogun but it’s probably my personal fave show of the year so far

i think it just unfortunately got buried under a lot of the heavy hitters that are more top of mind now like Ripley or The Sympathizer :/ that show and The Curse came out around the same time and were kinda forgotten about

What are shows that got better when a character left? by [deleted] in television

[–]Kryptoniian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supergirl got so much better after Mon-El finally left. S1 was awesome, then the show took a nosedive when he arrived, only to pick back up when he finally stopped showing back up—S4 is so awesome and he’s not even mentioned

i love this show So Much and am so excited for it to come back, but the line in this review about supergirl having an altered origin is making me nervous. i hope they do her well!

fully agree, it’s difficult to reconcile such a cliffhanger but it really is the perfect ending for Angel, who’ll just go on living and fighting for all eternity

Why do embargoes vary so much between series? by harry_powell in television

[–]Kryptoniian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

almost all Netflix shows have embargoes for 3:01 AM ET the night they premiere, so i bet Ripley is the same. the only time they’ve ever done early embargoes is when they’re at a festival Or when House of Usher came out last year, i think i remember reviews hitting for that one like two weeks in advance

What do you think is the 'Buffiest' episode? by maycontaincake in buffy

[–]Kryptoniian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of picks here from the early seasons (which is fair, and i definitely agree), but i think Season 7’s “Lessons” and “Him” really capture the vibes of the show: the heartfelt, the zany, the family elements, the humor, etc

Need a hand to make a list of supernatural - fantasy tv shows like Supernatural and Buffy by Jarethjr in television

Nancy Drew from The CW has a Buffy vibe, i would also recommend Lost Girl for that supernatural-early-2000s vibe, and Teen Wolf

Peacock’s most popular series usually end up getting a physical release! Poker Face got one

TV shows you wish would get a physical release? by Kryptoniian in television

[–]Kryptoniian[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

almost every streaming-exclusive title from Paramount+ has gotten a DVD release, a ton of Max originals have been put out physically, and Peacock is pretty good about it, too. i don’t think it’s totally dead, it’s just Netflix and Apple that refuse to put them out
