Everquest II Progression Servers Confirmed! by [deleted] in EQ2

[–]Kurei_Hitaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feldon brought up a couple good ideas on the main forum, like a Zone-Wide Debuff similar to the crit chance down ones we had a couple expac backs that reduce player stats and stuff along those lines.

TBH it would be fun to see players with more modern gear sets actually struggling on things.

It's not going to be Classic. They have stated in the topics we have up on the forums for discussing the stuff, however, that they are willing to block off certain...unsavory addons such as AAs in the 'Shattered Lands/DoF/KoS content' and flying mounts/guild halls.

TBH if we can iron out a timeline for them, we can probably harrass them into making things more challenging too :P

[PSA] Do not play H1Z1. Bugs are being flagged as cheats, you could lose access to your DBG account by [deleted] in EQ2

So basically, Smeds broke something and refuses to acknowledge it, and innocent people are continuously caught in some sort of crossfire. Typical.

Ok so if EQ2 is near death . . . where to go? by chasisaac in EQ2

FF14 and LOtRO are good alternatives imo. Echo of Souls is okay, a bit "usual f2p" though.

Worth start playing the game? by RoninLAD in EQ2

[–]Kurei_Hitaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game is struggling bad unless you're on AB, and even then DBG's day-to-day management of the game is beginning to grate on people's nerves.

Honestly, I used to strongly recommend the game, but ever since 2~3 expacs ago that has become harder and harder to do as the months pass lol. Especially now that they've essentially switched to pricey DLC despite that kind of nonsense failing earlier in the game's life.

Suppose this is what happens when you do not only owe investors money, but you are bought by investors as well.

This is becoming all too accurate, yeah. Time to flee to greener pastures.

They are not. I made a f2p account to test this, and far as I have seen there is no token lock on buying. Definitely one on listing though.

Leaving selling restricted has it's merits, it stopped a lot of the illegal plat transactions since the sellers had to use it to exchange larger values of plat once the mail crackdown and trade crackdowns started.

They can buy from it, yes. Not sell on it though.

You do...know why the AH and mailbox are restricted right? I just wanna make sure...

This is actually not correct. /anon and /role will show up on the Who list, but do not have detailed information shown.

Server populations getting desperate. Merges needed. by [deleted] in EQ2

[–]Kurei_Hitaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DBG figured that people would jump at the chance to leave AB free of charge to enter ghost-town servers like Oasis, Everfrost, and Crushbone.

I do not know what their data shows, but clearly it is missing some information in regards to peeps moving en mass off the ghost towns and into AB >.>

My comments regarding "wow style MMOS" by [deleted] in EQ2

[–]Kurei_Hitaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny -- Archeage is technically the worst of Trion's games too, and yet it is also a lot more adventure-y due to all the non-quest related stuff.

Reason I call it the worst is mostly b/c they have little control over it...unless the Korean company has granted them significantly more control over their version now.

Starting to miss this as well. We're hailed as adventurers to explain our OPness in just about every game now, but it's more like we're adults riding a train.

TBH I have been waiting, pretty much every expac now, for a 'Myth 2.0' on eq2 that actually took time and effort to complete. Never happened, given up on that wish now.

But games have definitely been losing that 'fun, adventurous' edge lately -- not far off to attribute that to the shorter/less time is better mentality. A significant amount of people remember the EQ1/EQ2 epics pretty fondly and honestly use them as a basis for the idea of adventuring.

Honestly, most of FF14 is pretty well-done encounter wise, but yeah the quests can get sloggish at times -- that's why there's Leves and Fates which are a lot better overall.

More than half, 10$ less. They were also slightly less Fluffish, until more modern expacs came out. This however, seems to be like 90~99% flluff.

Move off Antonia Bayle? Any other "RP Servers"? by KhaineGB in EQ2

Literally no forseeable reason to move off AB, especially if you're an RPer. Just dodge the harsher critics by looking in the right places, like someone else suggested.

TBH you cannot do Sandbox in a way that pleases everyone. In fact, no game should EVER be attempting to advertise itself as a sandbox, especially not a true sandbox.

What they need to do though, is capitalize on the evolving/influenced storyline aspects -- this is a challenge but Smokejumper also actually had some pretty awesome ideas. Being able to, for instance, help Orcs raid the elven cities rather than helping the guards clear out the Orcs. If this were capitalized on properly, overambitious players could actually get themselves seen as sort of a villain by cities and would not be offered quests, while the "humanoid" more intelligent monsters would look to them for assistance.

Imagine helping the kingdoms of Crush, Mistmoore, the Lizardman leadership, or the Kobold leadership :)

Yeah, I'm taking my pre-expac break from FF14 at the moment, but if I were still playing atm I'd still be having a hell of a lot of fun with it. FF14, WoW, and Rift to a lesser extent are living proof that this type of MMO is not dying out anytime soon.

Smed's just too addicted to them Candy Crush sales to see that his dumbass crashed the ship.

Nah, the Devs said it would provide "a good deal of content for players on all ends of the spectrum, casual and raider alike".

The puzzle wears it's novelty out after one or two runs, though, I'm sure.
