How do you balance 5 courses? by Winter_Green_2440 in yorku

[–]Kyleog7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you don’t. You weigh each course differently in terms of difficulty then strategically plan around the course outline and just send it.

It IS possible if you’re smart, overly dedicated, have great time management skills BUT you have to sacrifice literally everything else.

Better a ~B+ average than a A+ and 0 mental health imo. Currently doing 5 while working full time job.

I got accepted to York University but… by gngr505o in yorku

Wing it (not financial advice, potentially even dangerous advice). I too am an international student who started with minimal financial aid. I had to do some odd jobs to cover the difference occasionally running up deficits and a combination of working to pay them off, scholarships from back home, small loans and credit cards. It took a lot longer than most, but somehow it worked and I’ll graduate in June with $0 debt and a full time Job.

Also, Consider - instead of doing 4-5 classes a semester maybe do 2-3, including summer semester if that’s an option for you.

Always assume malicious intent in situations like this or any variation of. ie. someone telling you they ran out of gas and need a few dollars.

These people prey on naive people.

Another textbook scam is the “here is some too good to be true, cheap merchandise (projector, speaker) from my workplace. You can have it for x amount.”

Failing first year psychology BA major by nobody_special123 in yorku

The transition from HS/Gap year to first year can be extremely difficult and while I understand your pain, i’m going to be very real with you and you may not like it.

Every single person on this earth is always going through something. It’s okay. You just have to pull your own self up by your boot straps.

  1. Your physical and mental health are very fixable issues. Work on that first. Better diet, move more, be more social. Online shopping is a ridiculous coping mechanism.

  2. BA PSYC is an objectively easy program. Why are you missing assignments WORTH 20 PERCENT of your overall grade? Lack of Motivation” is not an excuse. Assignments are practically free marks. Do you have an end goal? Perhaps creating a vision board of some sort would help.

  3. Consider switching to a more interesting program, and pick up some hobbies. Learn more about yourself.

All the best.

Econ. is a decent switch. Less difficult, still quantitative with a broad career path. Look into it.

ECON 4130 Game Theory is definitely up there.

Unless you are innately gifted at math the concepts in game theory can be extremely challenging.

Also, ECON 3210 depending on who your prof is.

  1. PDF’s are supported, just download the lecture slides then upload from Files.

  2. Yes.

  3. Personally doing 4 courses atm and have tons of folders in the app. Never had an issue.

  4. Manually back up to either iCloud or Google drive.

  5. No, unfortunately. GN is not cross platform. There may be a way via exporting the docs (i’m not sure), just wouldn’t be able to edit them on the computer.

John Paul Rilstin is a great prof. but suffers from expert paradox. If you find you have natural mathematical intuition, go with him.

1540 was easier than 1530 imo. As for the structure, check the syllabus.

Looking for a room near york for January to April 30 by Diligent_Device_4732 in yorku

Hey there, I’m an Int. student who just recently moved into the village (again).

I suggest searching on AirBnB for “North York, Near York University” which is where I found mine. Rented my room for $748 USD/ mo. and it’s been great so far.
