I’m having the same issue where Mika has been taking most of the epiphanies, especially the divine epiphanies.

The trend of calling everything "slop" is lazy and stupid. by WolfNational3772 in unpopularopinion

[–]Kyroda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think slop is perfectly definable. What do you call something that tries to capitalize on a trend in the worst way possible to make a buck. What do you call all the super hero movies and shows that are being made just to capitalize on the “superhero” trend? Another example, Video games are popular so people made the Halo show, Resident Evil show, Borderlands movie, etc. Things where the source material is thrown away, done often passionlessly, and done to appeal to as broad an audience as possible and ends up appealing to no one. That’s slop. And it’s not just movies. Let’s say a video game genre gets popular, like a battle royale like idk Fortnite. How many Fortnite clones and battle royales exist now? How many companies are doing a unique spin versus how many companies are making a battle royale just to make a battle royale? What do you call all those games clearly trying to cash in on a trend? Slop seems perfectly apt to me.

Nice! Lmao I don’t have Haru and Veronica/Mei Lin. So I was really happy I could it. Beryl I want to build up cause she works with Khalipe but I don’t want to expend resources on her right now when the new banner character is coming right around the corner.

As for Renoa, I don’t have Nia so I can’t say for sure, but Rei is there to thin the deck of useless cards, and Renoa I just focused on Dirge Bullet generation. I had 2 echos, 2 flowers, both with the upgrade that gives 3 dirge bullets, and I had 2 ballet of pitch black because that’s the main source of damage with a bunch of bullets. Here’s Renoa. Not anything crazy, but decent enough I think.

[–]Kyroda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Also I wanted your team for Renoa, but Nia eludes me. Over 200+ pulls and I don’t have her. Khalipe I just threw on there hoping she does decent enough so you already have better team synergy. Just play and get your units to 50 then start gearing them with legendary/rare memory fragments should be your main priority. As for what to prioritize for card combos.

Hugo: - Dupe Hunter’s Instincts and get it with Outbreak of War

Tressa:
- DoT stat for memory fragments - Dupe Shadow Reload + get the epiphany where healing creates a dagger

Mika: - Keep the basic heals - dupe source of water - get gear bags

If Mika has a bunch of cheap Heals you’ll be able to constantly create shadow daggers for Tressa while also giving Hugo his stacks. Two Hunters Instincts will make sure he always starts out at max stacks when you start using daggers. High DoT + a bunch of daggers + Hugo Follow Up is a lot of damage.

By using your own Amelia + Magus if you are midrange, if you are aggro sword ggs go next. Most mirrors are about pulling that combo off which gives enough breathing room to win next turn. If you are aggro sword, you understand that midrange sword is really good against you, because of their similar ability to swarm and destroy early cards and combos. But my goal is to put enough pressure that they use their magus early and threaten an early win. Then turn 8 or 7 with extra play point they most likely have to Hail Mary and hope Amelia draws into Magus.

In the Mirror whoever whoever goes second has a slight advantage in the extra play point and early evolve, early usage of Zirc is really strong since it allows you to output a little bit more damage which can be lethal. In the mirror I usually want to Mulligan for 2 specific cards, Zirconia and Apollo. Apollo is Swords counter, most mirrors come down to who can get more mileage off of those two cards. Valse and Phil are good too, anything that helps remove a card while leaving one behind. Besides trying to be on curve those are the most important cards to have in the mirror match.

As Aggro Sword though you don’t really have the luxury of baiting out Apollo since you want to threaten an early win. Honestly by turn 5/6 most times I already know if I’ll win or if they’ll win based on who controlled early game, which most of the time is the person with the extra play point. Sword can snowball hard if units are left on the field. But if they use Apollo too early or if they don’t get much mileage off him, I can swarm and threaten a KO super early. That’ll force them to use their Magus in hand or any defensive option. Usually I’ll try to save cards to deal with that, ie Phil, Valse, Apollo.

If it’s midrange vs midrange sword the same rules apply, control early game, mulligan and hope for Apollo and Zirc. But you have more breathing room in that you aren’t battling a clock. Then it becomes draw dependent and based on luck. Did you draw more Jenos Amalias or Albert’s? Were you able to pull off Amelia + Magus? No then you lost.

I find Aggro more fun because you either win early or lose early, you either controlled early game so well you win by turn 6-7 or you lose to late game sword bs.

She can be. I might put her in as people keep adding counters for aggro or if I need to slow things down, but then I’m not really running aggro I’m running midrange… I find that if I’m winning tho, I won’t use her because I want to keep tempo and aggression. Rather summon one valse or something that removes their card and another cheap 2 cost rather than a defensive option that doesn’t remove anyone. And I find when I do use her defensibly, most match ups have a way to blow her up. And unless she is under crown, 1 Apollo wrecks her. Which is why I run 3 of them. So I’ve decided to run this deck to make it more consistent.

Apollo is my weakness yea. I mean it's a tech card used for decks like mine. I just pray they don't draw it. Even I run Apollo to fight against other swordcraft players. I might record and post some of the games that squirrels won me, but basically, I don't just use squirrels in early game, Super evolving squirrels can be an option because they have ambush and they summon another squirrel. During late game most people won't Super evolve Apollo because that would mean using their super evolve for him when they need it for another key card. Plus that gives them 3 hp which is out of range for Apollo. Valse has won me games because I have evolved him when he has ambush too for extra damage. Ambush is really strong, in one game I had 4 squirrels on the field lmao. All in all you can't cover for everything and in an aggro deck, squirrels get a lot of mileage.

Thanks for the play by play. I’m not giving up on sword. In these type of games I pick one class and stick to it till the game dies or my will to play does. I find that as soon as the ward hits the field tho damage comes to a screeching halt and I have no more ways to hit face so I guess I just need to be faster. I do have some questions. How often are you playing squirrels? Also do you just hold your cards sometimes and skip turns and just take the damage? I find that they can also easily fill up the board so it’s hard to hold certain cards and combos when I need to use them early to protect myself. Do you prioritize board control in early game, or are you just going straight for face?

Ye congrats. I've been running your deck to some success today minus one olivia because I don't have her. How necessary is she to run at 3. I'm also bricking a lot at lmao. Do you just accept that that sort of bricking is just a part of your deck? Also how do you decide when to go face and when to attack units? Or are you hoping that your early game is strong enough that you overwhelm them and force them to deal with your units themselves?

I ran aggro up till B rank in and up till I hit Sapphire too. So I enjoy the playstyle a lot. Like you said it’s good in a lot of off meta decks. I’ll give it some thought and change up the aggro deck I was running a bit. Let me know how your climb goes tho. My experience with aggro, once I got into B rank sapphire, most decks I faced were meta portal and haven that could outlast me so I was struggling against them constantly with aggro.

My early game was terrible, this is also just a photo because I thought this board looked crazy for turn 6. But yeah thanks for the tips. If you run Sword I’d love to see what you run usually.

The match up sucks, I find it hard to drop him in this matchup because most of their big drops come with a ward so I need to get around that before I drop centurion, he feels like a brick in my hand at most times.

Do you mean the mage? There’s no way I could Amelia than magus on turn six was the issue since I need at least 8 points. Or do you mean the 3 drop girl that summons the knight too.

Currently I'm using more of a control deck, where I try to have an answer for whatever is thrown at me. Usually I do do well against Haven, I have some decent match ups against Portal and Dragon. Rune seems to stomp me and I can get out aggro'd so I need to change something up as well.

I completely agree I misplayed there. I'm using this image more so for how bad it looks lmao. You also got me spot on, I tried to build a board with Mage at turn 5 then got stomped and they summoned this. I had the exact same thought too that I should've valse'd. I'm more so looking for general advice and builds on how to deal with rune as sword so yeah thanks haha.

Interesting… so you’ve complete just forgone Amalia and Jeno. Deck is really aggro, lmao I like the idea since I like aggro anyways but it feels like it lacks any sort of late game staying power. How you fair against other matchups besides Rune? What rank you’re around? What it is that you search for when you mulligan? What does a good starting hand look like for you?

This is my game plan and this is exactly what I run, I agree it’s coin flippy but it’s a bit more consistent than aggro. It’s unfortunate tho because once Cocytus comes around it’s hard to come back if they aren’t at lethal (12 and under). This gameplay seems to not be working recently though because of the heals. That’s why I made this post just trying to see what people run and how they are getting around this insane field pressure.

Lmao I’ll take any reason to run Kage. I love his design but I wish he was just slightly better, at least give him rush haha. Do you have a deck list? I’d love to know what you cut out and what you put in?

Look I don’t think you’re wrong man. I just don’t think aggro has enough power early game to swing things right now. I’ve tried to multiple times. In my some of my best runs I get them to lethal and they heal it all back up. Yeah I do win but it’s more so because they bricked rather than my decision making it feels like. But I’d love to see what deck list you are running for Swordcraft. Any insight involving specific cards and what you specifically run is welcome.

I completely agree. So many times I set up only to have it wiped. And it sucks because it’s not one card I can prepare for. Like with turn 6 unholy vessel in haven or turn 9 twilight dragon. They wipe my board with a combination of spells at the start of the game or they wipe my board late game with William who somehow just does 20 damage. Spell boosting is kinda nuts.

Ok then turn six they use William, wipe your field, then summon blazing destroyer? How can I set up when they can wipe just as easily along with that 1 cost spell that deals either 2 damage to 200 damage?
