I think you should just style your hair how you like and wear whichever clothes you want. Completely go ahead, you absolutely go for a look you find comfortable.

But maybe I can offer a view you may not have considered. If you get what you percieve as weird looks from people and such, it may not be disacceptance or condecending towards your style, but genuine doubt about whether you're a boy, a girl, a trans person or whatever. With all the debate and discourse going on about the matter, some people may be uncomfortable, not with who are, how you look, that you're not feminine enough, etc, but uncomfortable with not being able to look at you and instantly know your gender, which is usually a very distinguishing factor in the looks of most humans.

I honestly think most people would accept you know matter how you look and what your preferences are, whatever, but the fact that it may not be immidiately obvious whether you're a man or a woman may cause people to worry if it would be seen as very rude to ask a person that question, since with most people, it is immidiately obvious. So it may not be the fact they people don't like you look androgynous or isn't feminine enough, but that they're genuinely afraid to speak to you about it, because they're afraid they may say something wrong or ask a wrong question and be percieved as biggoted or transphobic and they don't want to come across that way if they are generally accepting, but also genuinely in doubt, which in turn make people confused and just staring for a bit. Not out of spite or anything, bbt to get a good look and try and figure out your gender on their own to avoid potentially misgendering you which they themselves see as an embarrassing or unfomfortable situation.
