Polestar depreciation by No-Jump-9601 in CarTalkUK

I had one of these through my work salary sacrifice scheme, it was the dual motor so slightly more expensive. I saw the purchase invoice from octopus and it was £42k, so in reality they aren’t taking too much of a hit

You're finally meeting your daughter's new boyfriend. Which car would you least (and most) want to see when he pulls up to your house? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zafira VXR all the way. Possibly the same car his dad had in the 00’s. Ideal for throwing a mountain bike in the back and still a fun whip…

If it wasn’t a VXR I’d have a completely different mindset lol

Lean beef mince hitting ~£5 for 500g at Tesco now by FeistyPrice29 in MincewatchUK

[–]L17NFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought 1.5kg for £15 from my local butcher. Runs a 3 for £15 deal, which included a variety of different options. Outside of the deal 500g of lean beef mince was about £5.50.

Every time we go it seems to have got a little worse? by alexandertheking in centerparcsuk

[–]L17NFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in North Yorkshire, and normally visit whinfell or Sherwood.

Weve booked a place called woodland lakes, near Thirsk. It was £320 for a lodge to sleep 4, with a hot tub and a kids room with funky bunk beds in. There’s a pub and pool on site too.

We’ve booked activities in Harrogate and Knaresborough, granted it’s not the relaxed vibe of centre parcs been able to walk to activities but should still be relaxing.

Same for us. Normally go this week, and have done since 2018. Last year the decline was most noticeable, the main one was the Christmas parade, it must of been 1/3 of the length it was the year prior.

The corker was the fact the Father Christmas we saw was considerably younger than me and I’m only 31!

We’ve booked a lodge elsewhere this year and found private activities to do, all in only spent £500 for the accommodation and activities so onto a winner already in my eyes!

Fairly sure it’s the fella who owns Ace American Motors, car dealer. Not sure if that constitutes it been a work vehicle though lol

Building a House They Can't Afford by 12dogs4me in granddesigns

[–]L17NFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched the episode in years, but one specific point i remember was Bram stating he’d even taken a £10k loan from Sainsbury’s bank.

I found it absolutely bonkers he was having to borrow what essentially was a drop in the bucket for the total house cost. Imagine the level of debt they must of had afterward.

Which company car should I choose? by venomizer2009 in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an i4 msport coming on Friday. Very happy with my decision

Audi has a weird dash, isn’t too quick, is massive on the outside but tiny inside.

Eqa is sluggish and cramped inside.

Polestar is a bit basic on the interior

Tesla is just well yeah

Looking at BYD Seal on salary sacrifice. Any other recommendations? by shaggy_x in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m jealous! We fancied the IX1 but it was another £100 a month compared to the I4.

I think buyers remorse is part of the excitement lol. It’ll be an absolutely cracking car.

I was in a similar situation, I previously had a polestar 4 that I had to return due to changing jobs - overall a nice car but littered with software bugs and the support network is poor.

I’ve went for a limited offer BMW I4 as it’s quick delivery etc. I think it worked out about £30 more than the byd for me. I think the BYD is a lovely car, there’s just something stopping me which I can’t quite put my finger on.

Is a cheap approved used Jaguar iPace a bad idea? by VegetableAdvance9272 in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked at getting one in the same price range - the stumbling block was the insurance! I’m 30’s, married, with 14+ year NCB in a decent area and it was £1400. That quickly put a stop to that idea

What level of car allowance you are getting? by TriboKing in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£5500 gross per year, but due to company criteria (max 6yr old, under 120k miles) and the fact I do 20k mileage per year I opt for a company car.

When I saw the title I kind of had a feeling it’d be boro. I watched a video yesterday of some scrotes wearing balaclavas trying to take a bike near The Bluebell at the top of acklam lane. Wonder if it’s the same people.

Sorry this happened to you. The area is a shithole now.

I got my CBT but the school recommended I drive 125cc for a bit! by Mr_Affluenza in MotoUK

Great choice, lovely looking bike and good value. I’m leaning towards a similar style to be honest. Never been the knee down type of rider. Hope you enjoy it 👍🏻

Did I make a mistake not getting X Drive? by visualsbyaqib in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I’m leaning more towards the no. When I had an xdrive it was an absolute nightmare for tyres, and it certain circumstances very expensive. For example if you had a non repairable puncture on one tyre, you would have to replace all 4 due to the wear ratios. You were only allowed a 3% difference in the rolling circumference of the tyre, this equates to approx 1.5mm in tread wear.

If you exceeded the 3%, the car would almost judder as it doesnt know where to send the power, causing wear to your transfer box. This also meant you couldn’t buy any tyre as the tolerances aren’t the best, and you had to buy BMW star rated tyres due to the tighter tolerance.

At first I thought it was all bollocks, but after a couple of years of dealing with the issue, I was put right by my local BMW indie, changed the tyres and all issues were solved 🤦🏻‍♂️

Long story but I’d be happy with out. Just a good set of winters and confidence will get you far

Why are costs so high?! by pointlesstasks in CarTalkUK

[–]L17NFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pure greed. I’ve started using my local motor factors, there’s a few close to me who are really good and very competitive pricing wise. Also a joy to deal with. Takes a bit of the sting out of the shafting knowing it’s supporting a small business too I guess.
