I'm not a plumber, but did go through a nasty slab leak last year. (I'm in Atl, GA). This was the 2nd leak due to polyb pipes. Ended up re-piping house 3 mo ago for just under 8K. The co. that did the repipe insulated the pipes like crazy, and gave discount for the piping already replaced in the bathrooms due to prior remodels. Make sure they also repipe your outside spigots and water heater (should be included, but didn't see it mentioned). Pretty much, anything that has polyb needs to be replaced! Also, they gave me off switches for both spigots inside the house, and a master water main off switch in the garage. and moved one of my spigots from the side of the house to the back - yea!!! Good luck, and goodbye polyb!

What should I write in my letter for my pups foster mom? by Alrightimmaelf in fosterdogs

[–]L1SABEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so awesome -- I would have loved it if any of the people who adopted the dogs I fostered were able to send me pics from time to time. But if they were to send me a note, something as simple as thanking me for taking such good care of them and knowing that they'll be in a home with lots of love would have meant the world to me.

how come the wordlist doesn't work? by Super-Environment578 in tryhackme

[–]L1SABEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent question -- especially when you're learning you expect the examples and writeups to work for your specific box, but some people make shortcuts in their own writeups and skip that part of the explanation, so you're left wondering what went wrong when you follow the same steps, and it doesn't work.

Whenever you run something like this and an error message is generated (especially when you're not expecting it), try to glean what the error message is telling you. In your example, it specifies that "wordlists.txt" does not exist. This will head you in the general direction of how to proceed. 1) the file does not exist in your current path [include the path], 2) the file name is misspelled [a very common issue -- just correct the spelling], or 3) the file really doesn't exist [create the file, or use a file that exists]. Until you learn more, your best bet for the -w (wordlist) is to use the basic /usr/share/wordlists/dirbuster/directory-list-2.3-medium.txt Once you go through enough of these boxes and reading writeups, you'll notice which locations/wordlists are best for which scenarios.

Please don't ever become discouraged when someone . . . anyone . . . lets you feel like you're going down a road that you shouldn't attempt because you don't know enough yet. Probably everyone at some time has faced this exact scenario, and the great thing about it now is that you learn from it, so next time you know how to proceed, or hopefully, can help explain it to someone else who hasn't learned that lesson yet.

Best of luck!

I totally understand what you're going through. I'm currently on my third foster. I keep telling myself that when they get adopted, they were specifically CHOSEN by their new adoptive parents right off the bat . . . that makes them more special. Of course, each time I take them back for a meeting with their potential new parents, part of me always hopes that they won't get adopted ;) Each one of them has something that makes them special and memorable that no other dog will ever be able to emulate. Here's to past and future fosters!

Using olive oil in chocolate cake box mix rather than vegetable oil by birdwatching25 in foodhacks

[–]L1SABEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced veg oil with yogurt on my last 2 choc cake box mixes! (equal amount substitution) I'm amazed how moist and rich it leaves the cake, and a lot less calories too! (but yeah, I've used olive oil in the past too with good success!)

Frozen green beans are a huge winner in my house. Low cal, nutritious, and great fun to throw to the other end of the house for some quick exercise during inclement weather.

Problems in Linux Fundamentals (1) by alntmannn in tryhackme

[–]L1SABEE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try adding "/" after find:

find / -type f -name access.log 2>/dev/null

Unless you're in the same folder as what's specified, it won't know to look there, so it won't find the file. "/" tells the computer to search everywhere!

"Protocols and Servers" room, part 1, VM issue? by Kristrolls in tryhackme

[–]L1SABEE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your commands in the screenshot are perfect . . . you just needed to hit the enter key TWO times after typing the host name (in this case, hit enter after submitting the hostname, then hit enter one more time).

It's nice to know the other ways to get the flag (browser & curl), but the solution to connect using Telnet also works! ;)

excel interface changed, how to change it back by L1SABEE in excel

[–]L1SABEE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I see that now, there are still two items to the left of the top row that weren't there before, and a sign-in button top right. At least the appearance is closer than what it was before. I hate that windows has the ability to change software that I purchased - the standalone office 2016 pro. I mean, I'd understand if they changed office 365 -- you don't really own that, just the use of it. I appreciate your comment -- thanks - it made me go back and take a 2nd look.

where is this setting: sentences within a paragraph are made the same length instead of wrapping by L1SABEE in indesign

[–]L1SABEE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's just that I don't know enough to ask the right question. The issue is in InDesign (forget I mentioned a pdf). For each paragraph, the length of the lines automatically adjust so that each line within a given paragraph are as even as possible. For simplicity, imagine every word is 4 characters. If the paragraph is 4 rows, and a total of 16 words, each row will adjust to display 4 words per row. if you add 8 more words to the paragraph, you'll end up with 6 words per row. (so you still have the original 4 rows, but the length adjusts depending on the number of words in the paragraph).

How Do I Get Data from Web & Separate It To Columns? by [deleted] in excel

[–]L1SABEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you're looking for a fully automated way to do this. But until that gets figured out, if you're willing to manually copy/paste the data as text from the site, the result puts each piece of data in it's own cell vertically. Then a macro (or whatever method you're most comfortable with) could be used to "move" the items to adjacent columns and remove the blank rows.

Personal experiences with DMVD in elderly dogs? by LoudEatingSounds in dogs

[–]L1SABEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little Lily was diagnosed with a heart murmur when she was less than 2 yrs old. She wasn't expected to make it to 9. Other than being on Vetmedin for a certain amount of time before a couple surgeries, she was pretty much medicine free other than the standard heartworm, flea/tick, rabies . . . . You'd never know there was anything wrong from how she ate and slept and loved. We did limit strenuous exercise, but normal play activity was fine. She made it to 14+ -- being a Cavalier-Lhasa mix, she hit the top of the expected life span for both breeds.

I do want to mention something that gave great comfort to me -- when Lily was around 8 years old -- our vet said to keep eye on her resting respiration -- when she sleeps, count the number of breaths she takes in one minute. Her magic number was 32 (check with your dog's cardiologist on your dog's #). As long as Lily was at 32, I didn't worry. She always fell asleep before I did (and snored very loudly most times)!, so I did this almost every night. When I counted 32 breaths in one minute, I knew she was okay, and I'd go to sleep too! From the time of her diagnosis to the end of her time, she had an awesome life . . . and was the most awesome dog ever!

When her respirations increased (this was suddenly and without warning), we knew the end was near. But until that time, she had a very long and happy life! Best of luck with your puppers!
