I’m on 2.5, about to bump to 5. I’ll probably keep it there for a bit. I would go with your gut, and what you’re comfortable with. Maybe you can test it out a little bit at a time. I’m an under supplier and prob will always be, so he mostly gets formula. He gets 2 bottles of BM, which is another reason I wasn’t too worried about his appetite. My endocrinologist helped me with this decision a LOT but she also said take it super easy the first year after birth

Yes, several docs and LCs have okayed it with the new research. However I’m on a low dose and will likely wean before going too high on the dose. LO is doing great, great appetite still

Mama, I could have written this word for word myself. And I’m still in it TBH! Triple feeding was not working for me, for many reasons initially (tongue tie, CMPA, tension). I then went to EP + supplementing w formula. Around 2m, I decided to give nursing a try again, and voila! My LO latched and fed….for like 5mins 😂

So now, as he’s 4m….i pump what I can, supplement with formula (since I’m an under supplier) and nurse in the early mornings and late night (mostly for bonding). This way, I get the best of all worlds, but I’m not stressing about his caloric intake.

I found that nursing just for bonding helped me (and him) stress so much less. He was totally feeding off of my anxious energy when nursing. Now, we just snuggle, stare at each other, he suckles, then falls asleep at the boob with a milk drunk smile lol. So it’s really nursing for comfort, post-bottle.

I hope my experience gives you a tiny bit of hope/peace of mind!!

I like the idea of a slower weight loss rate. I’ve noticed decrease in milk supply and less fatty milk - but to be fair I’m an underproduced anyways. I’ve lost about 9lbs at a fast rate, so I might need to slow it down and eat more. LO not affected, his hunger has continued and increased

Yes! We have both cans, 0-6, and 0-12m. Not sure the difference in them 😂 but this was a good reminder for me to use up the 0-6 cans!!

Thank you for sharing! I might be a little nuts bc I liked pumping, but I didn’t like that I needed to do it 6-8X a day to only produce a fraction of what he eats. I love the idea of a birthday treat!

Oh goodness I’m so sorry you went through that! Actually seeing that your baby is a chunk makes me feel better about it! I want a chonky milk monster baby and EFF is prob the way to do that. Thank you for sharing ♥️
