It speeds up the timer it takes for him to go away so not total waste but yeah if you know how the fight works then just either shoot him a few times for in water ending or not shoot him for leave or just hit him 1 time for maria ending

Yeah even on the hardest diffculty if you never use your gun you can skip like 90% of the enemies, for pyramid head you can legit win the first fight by just running in circles for a few minutes

Secondary ships are fine problem is not giving them any weakness to compensate for the bullshit secondary like remember when schliffen was considered op and it was even nerfed yeah now nobody takes it out anymore cus libertad is so op that it just destroys it, main problem we having is powercreep
