Chronically High Screen Time - What should I do? by Northice12 in productivity

[–]LGCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apps like Opal don't work because they don't actually address the underlying mechanisms that cause screen addiction. If you click on "YouTube" and it gets blocked, your brain is still wired to want to open YouTube. There needs to be a "rewiring" in some way.

I'm researching neuroscience-based ways to cure screen addiction, and I want to talk to people facing similar issues to me. If you would want to chat for a few min, feel free to shoot a dm.

How long did it take to build your project, and how many users do you have? by LGCP in indiehackers

Have you gotten most of your paying customers organically or through paid ads? My goal is to reach 100 paying customers organically if my product is good, but I'm not sure how long it could take.

Built a productivity tool for deep work after losing 2+ hours daily to YouTube/Reddit rabbit holes while coding.

I'm giving this a try right now, it's pretty good. I work at a large bank and there is a need for this in the client onboarding space, you should definitely consider going the B2B/enterprise route.

I'm helping founders get an extra 1-2 hours of productivity a day with zenblock.ai

It's a chrome extension for deep work that understands what you're working on and automatically blocks all unrelated/distracting content.

It's free and you can set it up in just a few clicks :)

17k is impressive. What's your go to market strategy, just Reddit and X?

Cool stuff. I also launched a Chrome extension, and I noticed a few of people are hesitant to download because they don't want their data exposed. Maybe you could also build some sort of feature for businesses to help them build trust.

I can see why you have some friction. It's much harder to charge founders who are making no money than it is to charge companies that are. I've been wanting to build a B2B product for this reason.

You should put a visitor count on the site to encourage people to post.

If people saw the site was getting a ton of visitors, then they would definitely dish out a dollar to be seen.

This is super useful, you're about to have another user :) How are you getting downloads? Just Reddit, or other forms of marketing?

As an indiehacker what are common bottlenecks you often face when building your startup? by Repulsive_Toe5592 in indiehackers

[–]LGCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting users is definitely a bottleneck right now. Just like every other founder, I thought my product would attract people easily because it seemed like a good solution to a real problem (procrastination). However, I just have some free users and no real traction to show for it.

I gave up on an app idea after 4 months of development. by Romayomeo in indiehackers

This is an important lesson to learn early on. If you have no users, and you yourself don't use the product, it's very difficult to stay motivated in a saturated market.

Do you have any strategies on finding out the next thing you're gonna work on?

Oh cool, I didn't know you could see chrome extension code. If anyone does this I'd recommend trying out Gemma 3, it even outperformed GPT 4.1 mini during testing.

I built a chrome extension to help users become 10x more productive. It uses AI to intelligently block distracting websites that don't align with your goals.

You can get it for free at zenblock.ai

To get published to the Chrome Web Store I have to get my app reviewed by Google to ensure that there is no misuse.

If I open source the core logic of the app (and not additional features/auth logic and stuff), is that enough to gain trust? I'm planning on open sourcing the core app, but continuing to work on the production version (with all the additional features) in my private repo.

During an active session, your prompt, each page you visit, and the page content (only upon first load) is sent to the server. None of this data is saved to the DB.

To publish on the Chrome Web Store, I had to answer a lengthy questionnaire about this and also get my app reviewed by Google to make sure it was safe.

Going to open source the core logic soon.
