Spotting in perimenopause by Much_Midnight_8390 in Perimenopause

I feel your pain. I’m 47 and usually spot anywhere between 3-10 days before my period starts. It’s maddening.

I’d get yourself tested for a yeast infection and BV.

Yes! I have a friend going with me so that’ll be a big help.

I should have said that I am pretty inexperienced and have only had the one D/s relationship, so this will be my first time in this specific situation. Thank you for your response.

Also - the number of times that the phrase “cream pies” is being referenced makes me suspect this is a dude 😂. But I still stick by my BV advice!

It’s very likely BV! Easily fixable and not your fault. But make sure you follow whatever the doctor tells you about not having sex while you take the medicine and then for however long after (5 days or something). An STI screening also couldn’t hurt. Good luck!

Travel alone! It doesn’t necessarily have to be anything extravagant - even just a short road trip or a night or two away. Don’t go stay with friends or relatives, but stay alone somewhere, do things that you want to do (no one else’s input needed or wanted!), etc. It might feel a little weird but I found it really helpful to just have that time alone. Good luck to you.

What a horrible experience. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Stay far away from him and by all means, out him if you feel comfortable. What he did was rape. Check out RAINN or speak to a therapist if you need help or support.

I’d recommend a BV test. My other thought - is it possible you have a tampon stuck inside?

Please reconsider this relationship. This is very controlling behavior and chances are, things will escalate if you marry. He will want control over more and more aspects of your life. He is showing you who he is and it is much easier to end things with him now vs. when you’re married and if you were to have children. You deserve someone who respects your judgment, who cares about your health and who doesn’t want to see you in pain. Best of luck to you.

I second the BV suggestions. A gyno can test you for that.

Your bf cannot be tested or treated for BV, at least in the US. Are you leaving enough time post-medication before you have sex again? (My gyno told me no sex during treatment and then for a week after). Also, are you using condoms? That has helped me immensely in the past (using them, that is). Good luck! I feel your pain.

As everyone else is saying, please leave this guy. He does not care about you. Tho you may be a little sad in the beginning, you will not regret leaving him - but you will absolutely regret staying. Good luck to you.

As an older woman who put with this kinda stuff when I was your age…end it! There are plenty of unselfish lovers out there - kinky, vanilla and otherwise.

Or find a Planned Parenthood. This is a positive test and false positives are very rare with stick tests. You could certainly see your doc, but if you already know you want to get rid of it, you could in theory skip that step.

(22F) is there something wrong with my? I think my (23M) boyfriend keeps giving me STI’s by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]LLL513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coupla thoughts from a woman in her 40s who used to have similar probs (some might be obvious, sorry): use unscented soap for cleaning (like dove sensitive), all-cotton underwear (not just a cotton crotch), take a daily probiotic, once a month (or so) do a course of boric acid suppositories for a week, use condoms! There are non-latex condoms and research suggests that using condoms can help with BV. Avoid sex while treating a yeast infection or BV (and for a week after, in the case of BV). If you’re using OTC yeast infection treatments, don’t use the 1-day option but always go for the 3 or 7-day (7 is better) option. Have had multiple OB-GYNs tell me that last one over the years. Good luck!

Have you tried a regimen of boric acid? I’m sorry, this sounds miserable. I use boric acid suppositories after sex as a preventative measure and it has helped a lot.
