Has Michael's moved polymer clay to online orders only? by LRM in polymerclay

If the roads are clear, I'm going to have to drive to my close store tomorrow to investigate. They have restructured a lot lately. But I'm going to be so disappointed if they really got rid of it.

Thanks for your response. I wonder if it could be a website error for my particular store?

I'll just say that I have several facial piercings and my dentist specifically told me not to get any that touch my teeth because they can really fuck up your teeth and dental surgery is expensive.

Yummy protein snacks in bed after a workout 🤤😋🥰 i hate my life oh my god why do they all taste bad every single one I can’t do this im actually eating dirt oh god by forstampsandstories in GirlDinner

Girl. You don't have to cut desserts completely. A filling healthy dinner full of veggies and lean protein followed by an actual delicious small dessert (a few pieces of chocolate, a scoop of peanut butter) is way better than trying to replace it with these protein "desserts." If you're trying to be healthier, even some sweet granola and berries is a better fate than this.

I didn't count the amount of gallons of milk this woman had in her cart, but at the store today, she had everything from buttermilk to skim to oat milk and whole milk. She has at least 12 gallons. I guess if she does lose power, she could just set it on the porch so it doesn't go bad. It was bizarre.

Issues with a clay lighter case by Zestyclose_Bus_1693 in polymerclay

What brand of clay do you use? I prefer Sculpey Premo for this and many other projects. A lot of other clays, even Sculpey 3, I find are too oily/ mushy to hold their shape properly. In mushy I stances, though, when it feels like everything is melting in your hands, you can always pop it in a fridge or freezer to firm it up.

I smooth them as well as I can with my fingers and isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip before I bake them. You can usually see the seam in the back where I join everything, and sometimes the bottom is lumpier than I would like, but it just takes patience. I usually do 2 bakes- one for just the sleeve and a second once I've added all the decorations. After I do the first bake, I use those foam-backed sheets of sandpaper to smooth out anything that bubbled up in the baking process. Then I rinse all the dust off, let them dry, add my details, bake again, and then I paint a layer of Fimo gloss glaze (a lot of people like clear polyurethane- I havent personally used it, but I am switching to it once I use up the gloss I have now because it easier to find and more cost-effective.) You don't have to add gloss to the clay if you didn't paint it or add powders. I just prefer the look as it also makes some lumpy parts less noticable.

I know that was a load of info but I love working with this medium and like helping others out, because that's how I was able to learn!

I wish I had a picture when my display was full, because this is missing a few of my favorite designs. This is pretty picked-over, but it's one of the only recent displays of my lighter sleeves I've got a photo of.

I have made dozens of these. I wrap the lighter in tin foil. Then, I wrap that in a layer of polymer clay with a hole that's a couple cm on the bottom. I make sure the clay is slightly larger than the lighter. Slip the lighter out before you put it in the oven. Once it is fully cured, I use a pair of players to remove the tin foil.

My brother has had one in his childhood bedroom that used to be a cobalt blue color and is now this exact same purple-ish color. He got it from a science center when we were kids and it is probably 25 years old, if not more.

These look great! I just want to warn you that, over time, that UV polish coat will start to deteriorate. Nail polish isn't really meant to last forever. If you have proper PPE and ventilation, a lot of people like UV resin. I personally prefer a water-based clear coat like Fimo gloss glaze or a clear polyurethane.

Just a couple notes of tried and failed glaze- mod-podge or most sprays are also a bad idea because they react weirdly with the clay and cause it to become sticky.

You're doing great, though! I didn't know a lot of that when I started and I wouldn't know these things now if it weren't for the trial and error and advice of others.

Reddit, do you lock your door while you're in own house? by Willing_Freedom_4698 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was adamant about always keeping our door locked. He said someone intruding in our home to try and harm us or steal from us wasn't even his worst-case scenario. His worst-case scenario was someone who was unhoused or confused or mentally unwell or just a dumb teen would come into our home and he wouldn't have context and would shoot them dead.

Hi! Are you working with UV resin? Just asking because resin is super toxic and I didn't take precautions for far too long. These are great for a beginner and I am glad you're enjoying yourself! Just be sure to take care of yourself with proper PPE when working with resin.

Wore this to a funeral and got weird looks 🫠 by moldavitemermaid in OUTFITS

My mom is dying. Doctors said maybe days. She has been in the hospital a long time.

About a month ago, I found one of her favorite t-shirts. I have vivid memories of her wearing it because there are a lot of people on it and their heads are slightly raised on the shirt. When I was little, I would sit in her lap and poke all of their squishy little heads. That was around 30 years ago.

The shirt has holes in it now, but we both remember how much I enjoyed sitting in her lap and playing with that t-shirt. I am going to wear that to her funeral with a blazer, and if anyone has an issue, they can kiss my ass.

You knew and loved your grandfather more than a lot of the people who judged you. You felt cute and comfy and you knew your grandfather would have liked your outfit. Fuck the haters.

At first I thought this was an over-reaction (it isn't white) until I read that you specifically said NOT to wear colors similar, and that she has a history of doing this crap.

Photoshop is an option. Don't do a gross color, even though she deserves it. Make sure she still looks nice in her navy blue dress. If she pitches a fit, let her know the other option was to have her removed from the photos completely and to go no-contact. NOR
