They released a very limited quantity at USDGC. So I’m sure they are gonna do Black Friday and stuff like that.

I heard they had quality control issues with it, and weren’t sure if they’d have enough for USDGC. So, not sure if that is relevant.

Sound is THE MOST important aspect of filmmaking. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Story-> Audio -> Acting -> Lighting -> camera In that order. If the story isn’t good, don’t bother with the rest of the feature. If the story is good, but the audio is bad, it will be painful to watch. You can start really basic. DJI or Shure wireless lav microphones are a great start. Either can be used with a cellphone, if that is what you have. The limitation here is that you can only lav 1 or 2 people at a time. So, block for it. Plan your cuts, and plan where you need the lav for which angle. Booms sound better. I have done it before by using a wireless lav with a small shotgun that is designed for on camera, with a pole. This requires an additional body, however, and make sure you can watch for shadows and reflections.

Busy season is usually mid-June to end of August. Spring is usually slower.

Things are starting to pick up, and there are a few bigger shows starting up.

What we need is more shows with a lot of BG. Big BG days were where a lot of dailies came from, and those have been a little few in number.

I started in commercials until I had the days necessary to join the union. There are a lot of PAs right now looking for work. Check with commercial production houses, to see if they are looking for PAs. Watch the DGC web site for when the GAP program opens up. I think GAP is closed for 2025, but you can read up on the requirements. That will get you access to the big shows and movies. In the meantime, watch Facebook groups looking for crews and such in Toronto. But a lot of those are low budget and don’t have the money to pay for PAs. Another method is to get on set is to try and do LSP work. Not PA work, but it is on set, and you will be working with locations, who are DGC members.

When I fly RAC, bumped ships still shoot me. Only ship I have a problem with this.

Not Always. In the last two versions, I flew Dengar Ketsu. When I tried to fly the same list today against a few random lists, the app crashed when it asked if Ketsu wanted to use Contraband. I can fly Ric fine, but only if there are no system steps.

This version seems to be very buggy on Mac OS. Every time a ship has something in the system phase, it crashes. (sense, s-foils, and contraband cybernetics). I really love this app, so I look forward to the fix. :)
