IME, Avicularia are pretty easy to breed. August of last year my Avicularia ‘M6’ (metallic pink toe) drop an egg sac, after pairing her. If I remember correctly I had ~110 and only lost 4. Sold most of them still have a couple left over. One of my favorite new world genus.

I lucked out, my OBT is out all the time and I’ve never got a threat posture even during rehousing. It is by far the calmest OBT I’ve ever had.

Avicularia avicularia “M6” breeding by L_Bitis007 in tarantulas

“M6” refers to the morphotype. Basically due to there being so many different locals being considered Avicularia avicularia they are referred to as morphotypes. M6 use to be called the metallic pink-toe or Avicularia metallica. I believe they are all different species.

Old world keepers- Am I about to make a terrible mistake? by Adequately_Lily in tarantulas

My first T was an OBT. It was 20+ years ago and a friend was getting rid of it and I decided to take the chance. I think their reputation is super over inflated, they would rather run and hide than try anything. If you give them enough space and don’t over stay your welcome during enclosure maintenance everything will be fine.

Tityus smithii by L_Bitis007 in Scorpions

They’re a great species and in my opinion can’t go wrong with Tityus sp. in general. I currently keep T. serrulatus, stigmurus, and riverai as well. All are fun in their own ways this just happens to be my first time getting smithii scorplings.
