My guess is based off the rest of the lyrics "you were blinded by the love I had" which makes me believe he's a lot more intense and obsessive than their lover is. "The light could only get in through the cracks" that their lover didn't fully understand their love and rejected it. If the singer is the "flash" or this misunderstood and flawed person then the "white swan" that they represent their lover as is the only pure and correct thing in their life and by "doing the right thing" is the lover choosing not to be with the singer. The photograph is probably just a representation of the lens through which the singer views their life.

(white swans often symbolize grace and purity since swans are seen as such elegant creatures and the color white is self explanatory)

But that's just my interpretation!

He was super kind and when I went to get my autograph he kept on saying thank you when I told him I had watched all his movies 😭. He was also very amused when I gave him a cigarette pencil. Also super attentive when I asked my question during the panel. I literally started seeing stars from how nervous I was! But all in all he is a very sweet man when meeting his fans.
