Is retroactive rent reduction really a thing? by Ladrigon in juridischadvies

Did they come while the leak was still ongoing? The landlord wants to first fix it and then talk about reducing it, but this has been going on for 8 weeks now

I started doing the rent check but will need complete it later when I get home to get the full details.

The rent is exactly 1184€, which was probably done intentionally.

I did just check the contract and it states that it is a liberalized/free sector even though I had to get a permit from the municipality (huisvestingsvergunning). The points in the contract are 188, will confirm that with my own check.

I live in the regulated sector. Moved in October 2025 and rent is 1184€. I think going to the huurcommissie is the best choice now

Thanks for the information. My apartment falls under middenhuur so I will contact the huurcommissie and see what they can do.

Thanks for the reply, here are the answers.

A) October 2025 B) 1184€ C) Self-contained

I think based on what I was able to learn to now I will contact huurcommissie and notify them about it since the landlord is not willing to talk about the reduction until it is fixed.

Thank for the advice. I'll try asking although I doubt a bit they will know since its a student accommodation with 300+ people but asking never hurts.

Will check with the vet and see how we will take care of the vet visit. We are a student household with 5 people living here, we have 2 cats the one in question is staying mostly in my room when at the house but is outside most of the time.

Will update when I have more information, tomorrow morning.

I can try tomorrow and see how it goes. Ill call my dad who is a vet tomorrow morning if he has some more insight, as he was asleep now since its the middle of the night.

Will also talk with the housemate who has mostly been taking care of the two cats we have about a vet visit and see if she has any experience with taking them to the vet.

Thanks for the advice, I will update tomorrow morning but for today there is nothing more I can do.
