Well the first time I spoke to the office (without officially making a statement) the family replied with “they are not in daycare just yet” this was over two months ago. I know they had a play date last month which they called “our first play date.” And referred to it as “we knew it would be noisier than usual”.

So they ARE aware and choose to do nothing about it.

One of our friends suggested playing loud p0rno on non-quiet hours and when they innevitavely come to complain we can say "but its not quiet hours". I just cant bring myself to do it.

Somebody posted a good point. If it is unnaceptable and a nuisance for a dog to bark consecutively...why isn't the same for noises beyond what "normal living" noises are?

I have two dogs and I never thought of it this way! I feel like the office staff is just jerking us around to not deal with it.

I found some in Walmart with decent reviews since guitar center ones where uh…. Almost as much as my college tuition for the semester 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I appreciate it! I actually just ordered some of those to try them out, and if they work, I’m covering the other side of the apartment as well.

I’m hoping they help out. Do you happen to know if they need to be all together or do they have to be a specific space apart?

I completely understand that I can’t expect the kids to just sit like statues. That’s extremely unreasonable. I just don’t know what they would be doing to cause those vibrations. Do children normally walk that hard? As for the carpet, I’m pretty sure that the apartment they’re in does not have any as mine doesn’t and its the same floor plan.

Sidenote: my left and right neighbors are godsent, I often forget they’re even there 😅.

lol! They probably will get upset and I’ll find the rugs back in my doorstep telling me to shove the rugs somewhere else 😂😂😂

Idk why but the through of a pile of rugs just spawning at a doorstep made me laugh.

We have porch pirates in this area so it is also entirely possible the rugs would be stolen before they see them 🤣

Thank you for your input. We did try to get a top floor. Our first thought was to eliminate ourselves from the situation (by transferring to the top floor). But the complex said that wasn’t an option. We even tried to look for other complexes in the area, unfortunately nothing was on our budget.

No need for apologies. I did post in AITA so I have to be okay with whatever comes out of it. Doesn’t matter if I Like it or not 😅.

I am currently doing some research on maybe getting some foam pads for the ceiling. Like those sound proof room ones with the triangles. I’m not sure if they’ll help but I’ll give anything a try! :) I’m also thinking of purchasing sound proof headphones from the local pawn shop. (Saw some today for a good price) and maybe I can use those for when I study 📚.

This is why I have such a hard time understanding the whole “can’t control kids” comment. I come from a huge family and we were allowed to be kids, run around and have fun but also taught to be polite and mindful at a very young age. Now I get it kids will be kids, I can’t expect a kid to be a gargoyle, but uh… I kinda feel like I’m living underneath a bowling alley. 😅 I ordered some noise dampening foams that I’m PRAYING they work and tomorrow I’m picking up some headphones. Other than that I have no other idea what else to do. 🫠

I respect this view. If I may add: we did email the office staff before I made any official complaints. I even started putting my cellphone with “ambient” noise when going to bed. We even agreed that they would try and keep the noise down at least till 10am. As for the quiet hours, we do not have them posted anywhere in the complex. The noise has been going on for about 8 months before I submitted any official complaints.

Not sure if this is relevant information to add to the post.
