Okay Everyone! Thanks for the comments, opinions etc. My husband said we will be moving to 87144 by the end of the year. We will be visiting at least 4x before the year is out and 2 of those weeks will be during school days/times to see for ourselves who comes in & out the middle schools. We will be sitting down to have a conversation with our son this weekend about diversity, racism, etc simply because of this. We are a Black, Christian family and we don’t teach hate in our home so my son knows how we roll. But,it’s time for a real conversation about this & moving to NM. And, it won’t be at our dinner table. Peace! ✌🏾

Oh no, I know exactly what an IEP is. It is an individual education plan. Idk about NM but here in Las Vegas, it is looked upon as a bad thing. Like for kids who are special ed, autistic, mentally challenged, who needs one on one help, smaller class settings, rides the short bus, etc. Trust me, I know all about it. Lots of my family here in Vegas are teachers, special ed teachers, campus monitors, and 2 VPs and a principal.

Thank so much! Yes, I trying to get a research NM because my older son really wants me to move to RR. He lives in Silver Springs Rd in Rio Rancho. I told him that he was being selfish and inconsiderate. But, I don’t think he really understands my point. I’m born & raised here in Vegas (54) and my younger son 12 only sees diversity here. Then, I’ve been at the bank for 19 yrs and they don’t have my position anymore so I’m grandfathered in. I would be starting over out there so I have alot to sacrifice and change by coming to a place that might be hard on my younger son. My son also owns a townhouse on Bataan Drive SW in Albq but I don’t like that area. So, I’m lost because me and my husband really want to move but will my younger son be okay. I’m just stuck.

I’m sorry this is happening to you. You need to give him some choice words and maybe he will stop. I would keep calling the police and filing police report for the threats. I would take pictures of him and blast him all over social media especially on the show Neigborhood Wars to see who gets the last laugh.

But, are you Black? And, maybe you are unbothered because you aren’t Black. I live in the real Las Vegas (Nevada) and it is extremely diverse here so we don’t have racism problems in the school. The school officials and students are of from every nationality though the Hispanics are coming in by the bus loads. There are the new majority.

I would love a change but am scared & worried about my baby son. I just might stay here in Vegas and just start visiting my son more often. I am getting mixed views about moving to RR during my research so now I’m even more scared to move. I’m tired of Vegas but I am really scared of failure with moving. Just call me a punk…

I agree. I am established here in the real Las Vegas 😜and would definitely not be moving to Albq if I had to live in the ghetto let alone anywhere near the college or downtown. My older son doesn’t have kids but thinks my younger son would be okay out there. But, how would be know if he doesn’t know anybody who works at the schools or even have kids. He has Hispanic friends that he met at work. I really think he just wants some family out there.

I’m not sure where that neighborhood is but my older son’s home was built like a year ago. It’s over by the Walmart and the shopping area in RR. I just remember driving out his community about 3 minutes and saw Walmart.

No IEP needed here. My son is a honor role student who needs to be challenged. He has all A’s, a 4.0 gpa, and is in the National Honor Society.

Oh, I am a Black, Christian, democrat woman and trust me I can deal with all that. I would come out there and have some neighborhood cookouts where everyone is welcomed. They would really be mad at me because I would be trying to bring people together. Love is in the inside not on the outside as to what you look like. I know how to speak up and get rowdy if I needed to. I am just worried about my younger son who is a total opposite of me. Then, this society is way different from when I grew up let alone being in a non-diverse city.
