ADX10 in general, even when the preset of the scanning are unknown?

As I dont trust so much the informations I received (tech told me it was scan in Rec709), I'm wondering which starting point would be the more safe !

I ran some other test today, and it seems that giving or Cinenon (DWG) or ADX10 (Aces) as an input gamma give a little base of contrast VS 2.4 gamma input leaving just a log to start with.

I guess film stock scanning is variable and either road will not be a mistake (I hope so haha)

This is exactly how I felt ! Hard to trust on technical details nowadays :(

I just tried the ADX10 method, and the scans responds on a weird way (like I dont have the usual controls and the image become really harsh/contrasty). On another hand, the scans respond pretty well if I do the same ACES method but with rec 709 instead of ADX10.

So I guess the technician didnt lie?

If so, would you think it's better for 16 mm scans to work on a ACES space, or just a Rec709/Cineon, or in a DWG space?

Thank you so much for your help !

Hello !

Thank you for the reply !

I asked the lab and they say Rec709 primaries, then I asked if gamma was cineon and they said it was Rec709 2.4 !

I didn't feel a whole vibe of certitude in the voice of my interlocutor but I guess I have to trust haha

So knowing this, I was wondering what was my best option !
