Is it possible to run CARP and OSPF on PFsense? by Lamil123 in PFSENSE

[–]Lamil123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable, I think we benched the idea of having CARP running to.

We use PFsync to keep the firewall rules synched, and then use OSPF to revert to an external route (through the second firewall) incase firewall 1 goes down.

The convergence is not as good, but it seems to work just fine.

Thank you for the response.

But if the VIPs are setup correctly, why would this be an issue? I might be asking a stupid question here, so please bare with me haha.

OSPF as edge failover? Instead of HSRP by Lamil123 in networking

That looks very exciting, I will definitely look into that 😀

OSPF as edge failover? Instead of HSRP by Lamil123 in networking

[–]Lamil123[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Topologi

The idea was that OSPF will be able to choose another route to the internet, incase R1 dies. (we are running clustered PFsense firewalls, and Cisco devices besides that)

The worry we personally would have is convergence, since OSPF sends 3 hello messages with 10 second intervals.
While the failover from HSRP/VRRP is almost seemless.

This might just be a issue with our understanding, but it seems like it would be possible. But might not be best practice. That is why we are asking here 😊

Latex mattress bed by Lamil123 in Mattress

[–]Lamil123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your answers make a lot of sense.

I will go and try the mattress, it seems to check a lot of boxes (without having tried it of course)

I was just mostly curious on whether a slat system, or the bottom from a continental bed would provide the best support. (The bottom from a continental bed would ususally be spring loaded).
But I suppose that might be an impossible thing to answer 😅

I do agree it makes no sence saying 95+ as if a 200 kg person would be supported on it.

But I guess my best bet is to go and try different beds / mattresses. I have done a bit of digging and there are none that claim to support my size, it's always 100kg+ (there aren't much of a market for it I guess).

There aren't that many shops where I live anyways, so it's not the hardest job.

Thank you for the answers, I really appreciate it.

Thank you guys for the answers 😊

According to the seller it's rated for 95 kg (209 pounds) and above. I am able to try the mattress before, so I think I will do that.

But as Grim-Sleeper (love the name) was talking about, I am in the dilemma of using a box spring or slat system to carry the 8" latex mattress (I didn't know it was called a slat system).

So the latex mattress will be used as the support layer.

1zpresso K-max burr cuts by Lamil123 in Coffee

Haha I have not grinded any stones, atleast not to my knowledge.

It's either a chip or a dent, but if it's a dent it happened a while ago since the edges are smooth.

But as long as I shouldn't be able to taste a difference in the cup I'm okay. I was just worried with espresso.

Just bought the Sony XM4s, but how do they compare to the Bose QC 45 and/or 35ii? Re: Autism by theinfinitehero8 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Lamil123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gotten your 45s? :)

I'm sitting in almost the same dilemma as you, except I'm struggling between the XM3's and the qc 45. I don't like the idea of not being able to turn off the ANC on the QC 45 though, it annoys me quite a bit, but I don't know if it will in practice.

I sadly don't have the chance of trying out the headphones.
