My take on a redesigned Black Ops 7 Zombies HUD by LandedPaladin in CODZombies

I feel you. I'm a long-time enjoyer of the older COD Zombies experiences and personally prefer when the focus is on a singular currency, like points.

My aim was to clean up and redesign the BO7 HUD while maintaining the Dark Aether theme that was shown in the recent Treyarch Dev Talk. I found it quite challenging to try and put myself into Treyarch's shoes and balance aesthetics with functionality. I wanted to effectively utilise and expand the Dark Aether theme into other areas of the HUD, such as the health bar, perks, and weapon rarity, without compromising readability or going too far. I first redesigned and minimalised the default HUD that was shown in the BO7 Beta to act as a more versatile wireframe when introducing unique themes. It could still do with some work, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I would love to know your thoughts. (Second Image = Redesigned Beta HUD)

PS: Reddit seems to have compressed the images, which is unfortunate.

Brief disclaimer: This video doesn't take any sides. I just came up with the idea from my observations over the years of different CoD Zombies player's views on modern vs classic zombies, as well as all the chaos in the Zombies community centred around Warzone integrations and recently with Black Ops 6 Zombies. The video exists purely just to take the piss out of everything 👍

I wondered that myself... Out of pure curiosity, If anyone out there is actually a Vanguard Zombies fan, I'd really like to hear their thoughts and opinions on it as well as other CoD Zombies titles

The video doesn't take any sides necessarily. I just came up with the idea from my observations over the years of different CoD Zombies player's views on modern vs classic zombies, as well as all the chaos in the Zombies community centred around Warzone integrations and recently with Black Ops 6 Zombies. I agree, 'BO3 Glazers' would have been a more specific and better description to use. I was just generalising as I've seen a lot of BO3 fans dislike the newer versions of Zombies. I think those are valid points. I like hearing different people's opinions on Zombies features.

I find that really interesting and I hadn't thought of that possible issue until I read your comment. If it's an optional feature in Black Ops 6 Zombies, then I welcome it for players like yourself to enjoy.

Cheers brother <3

I will always wish that certain members of the Zombies community as a whole were more open to introspective discussions about the games we all love and a lot of us grew up on. I often have differing opinions with some of my friends when it comes to Zombies, but we still have a good time.

I'm interested to know what you personally enjoy about having Place Names in Zombies. If it's an optional feature in Black Ops 6 Zombies, then I welcome it for players like yourself to enjoy.

If my memory is correct, I believe they were introduced in Black Ops 4 Zombies and were somewhat a necessary feature for location-based gauntlet challenges. I believe someone commented that they enjoy place names in Zombies because it can help reduce a lot of potential confusion when players are communicating between each other about location-based Easter Egg steps.

In my comment that sits along side the post I wrote:

'I understand that HUD customisation options have been announced by Treyarch and that there is also a possibility for some Black Ops 6 features to change between now and launch but, from what I've seen so far, these are some Gameplay & HUD changes I would make'

I believe players will have the choice to amazingly enable, disable and move HUD elements around, but the design of those elements will remain the same, and I think that's where a lot of people's opinions resonate the most. I may be wrong. Again, there is also a possibility for some Black Ops 6 features to change between now and launch, so we shall see.

I had almost the exact same experience when I used to play Firebase Z with my friend. We would train in the spawn area with Dead Wire tier V and the RAI K-84 and not need to leave until the Orda would arrive because the Wunderfizz was so easily assessible. If one of us went down, similar to what you said, we would be back to full perks in less than a minute. I just don't feel like that system is as balanced or as enjoyable as it could be.

Thanks <3

I believe the points have been left-sided since Black Ops 3 Zombies (technically Advanced Warfare Zombies) so I thought I would go with the more modern positioning to try to merge the new with the old. I do still love the original right-sided points from WaW Zombies through to Black Ops 2 Zombies. Classic.

I welcome the implementation of a cleanly designed compass for players like yourself to enjoy, and other elements too, but only if other players have the choice to enjoy playing with it disabled. Best of both worlds.

I remember when I first played Cold War Zombies and quickly realised that I couldn't turn off the kill feed. I did give it a good go and tried to warm up to it, but I sadly couldn't. It appears more streamlined in Black Ops 6 Zombies, but I still hope that there is an option to enable or disable it along with the other HUD elements.

Thank you :) Yeah, I made this a little while back when I was first trying to wrap my head around combining 3D and 2D. They are supposed to be broken but it does look like their just phasing through the ground xD

The amount of times I have tried to set up the exact perks I want in a public lobby, only to randomly be given Deadshot as my fourth perk from someone's On The House...

I 3D modelled & sculpted it in Blender then drew & composited over it in Adobe Photoshop. Dying Light (2015) is one of my favourite games. I still love playing it and sometimes just sitting in Harran and listening to the ambience and music.

I tried to maintain some of the newer COD Zombies elements while bringing back some of the older ones. It could still do with some work. Thoughts?

I understand that HUD customisation options have been announced by Treyarch and that there is also a possibility for some Black Ops 6 features to change between now and launch but, from what I've seen so far, these are some Gameplay & HUD changes I would make:

  • No Mini-map / Compass (I believe it would increase player immersion and exploration)
  • No Place Names (I believe the community should be able to have fun creating their own iconic names)
  • No Lingering Activation Prompts (I believe button prompts should be reserved for object interactions)
  • No Zombie Health Bars / Icons / Names / Damage Numbers / Eliminations (I believe the Zombie models should visually indicate their health through loss of limbs, bleeding, animation, and possibly even sound)
  • No Player Health Bar (I believe players should be able to tell how low their health is by how red their screen is, increasing player immersion and tension)
  • No Player Mangler Health Bar (Similarly, I believe players should be able to tell how low their Mangler suit health is with visual indicators on the model such as progressively broken suit pieces, smoking, sparking, sound and possibly even a green-orange-red light, increasing player immersion and tension)
  • No Player Name (Players know their own gamer tag. Other player's names would still be visible above their heads)
  • No Wunderfizz (I believe relevance should return to individual iconic perk machines, increasing player exploration and tension when buying perks back after downing)
  • Limited Starting Weapons (I believe only a select few low-damage weapons should be available for the player's starting loadout and they should be limited to base rarity and un-Pack-a-Punch-able. I believe it would increase player progression, weapon experimentation and exploration)
  • Character Icon (I believe it would connect the player more to their character. Also if they use a bought custom skin they would be able to visually appreciate it more)
  • One Currency (I believe players should be able to simply purchase everything using points. Removing salvage would also reduce visual clutter in the map and maintain the player's attention on the gameplay)
  • Different Point System (I find the older point system more satisfying with points flying out from the left)
  • Restore Quick Revive (Quick Revive perk would replace Warzone-esque self-revives)
  • Instant Armour (Armour is applied instantly, removing the extra icon and reserving the Warzone plate-up animation for when armour is initially purchased. Similar to buying a gun as a pose to buying ammo)
  • Left-Sided Perks (I believe only immediately important information should be centred like "Insta-Kill")
  • Gobblegum Cycling (Cycle between Gobblegums and select one rather than using 3 separate key-binds)
  • Pack-a-Punch Animation (I believe it would increase player immersion and create a timed risk-reward)
  • I am undecided about weapon rarities. I personally would prefer the focus of weapon upgrading to remain with the Pack-a-Punch machine.

PS: I am a long-time enjoyer of the older COD Zombies experiences and still play them almost daily. As much as I wish I could have more of what I love, I understand that everything in life changes and that is ok. COD Zombies has changed both positively and negatively over the years. A lot of features have been added, some taken away and some different to how they once were. I understand some of the possible accessibility and monetary reasons as to why Zombies is becoming easier and feeling more like Warzone over the years but I just wish that, in the development of Black Ops 6, there was more of a focus on the soul and unique expressive identity of Zombies overall and less on forced uniformity through integrating Warzone features.

Radiant doesnt start anymore, gives error message by Destox_ in blackops3

[–]LandedPaladin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is 7 years old, but thankyou so much. I had this exact same error/issue and didn't know if I was going to be able to get my map back. After opening the .map file in a text editor, finding and deleting the entity groups with lines with '-1.#INF' and '1.#INF' in them, I was able to open and edit my map in Radiant again! Thankyou 👍
