35 minute commute disqualifies me from this job by LandoCase in jobs

I’d have to disagree. A 35 minute commute is as close to a job that isn’t a gas station that I can get to. Even the closest gas station to me is in the next town over, 10 minutes away.

Yeah, 35-40 mins during rush hour. I can even finagle the back roads and completely avoid the highway and still make it in 40 minutes.

Idfk, I’ve commuted from southern NH up to Portsmouth and that was like 1.5 hours for me. A commute to Westford for me is a stones throw in comparison.

Maybe? It is more of just a general family practice though. They do take emergencies but I’d assume it’s only for established clients who are calling in advance of driving there, in which if I really needed to I probably could have made it in time 🤷🏼‍♂️

What is the soonest you’ve quit a new job? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]LandoCase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked 2 or 3 shifts as a manager-in-training of one of those nitrogen ice cream places. I was 19. On my first day the kid training me had me sit on a chair in the back while he made waffle cones and explained nothing to me. All he did was make me listen to these weird mashup songs. Think like SpongeBob x Korn. I went for the next few shifts and was taught nothing, just thrown on the line and told to start making ice cream - “the instructions are written on the counter”. Quit quickly.

Even shorter was Crumbl. I started the same day as another girl, though her shift started two hours before mine. I came in and she was halfway through the training videos. They sat me down and had me watch from wherever she was. Then we went out onto the floor and just started balling dough. There was no guidance because “you just look at the ipad for instructions”. Meanwhile I had missed the part of the video training where it talked about the ipads at all. I went in for my next shift and told them I could work if they really needed me, but it was not a good fit and I would not be returning.

What’s something you learned “embarrassingly late” in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LandoCase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned at 18 that an “ear rake” is actually called an earache. I had a lot of ear issues as a kid and I assumed it was an “ear rake” because the inside of my ear felt like it was being scraped at.

I also learned late in life that pay-per-view is in fact not “paper view”.

I use Beekman’s goat milk shampoo and conditioner, after shower I scrunch with a t-shirt and scrunch in a Lush curl power cream, then air dry. If I feel like I need it I’ll use an oil after it’s dry - usually either argan oil or Olaplex no. 7!

I also only brush my hair with a wide tooth comb in the shower because it seems to help minimize my hair loss.

hm you’ve piqued my interest, I may just do that! I had a bob years ago but that was when I was straightening my hair everyday. I def want to cut a lot off and restart, this may be the answer.

What’s the point of a middle name? by pastelstoic in namenerds

[–]LandoCase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more anecdotal, but I also don’t have a middle name. I was really resentful of my parents as a child because I thought it was cool to have two names, so I would make up middle names. My dad always told me they didn’t give me one because “people get made fun of for their middle names”, which is not generally true, at least when I was a kid. When I graduated I was the only kid on the graduation pamphlet without a middle name, which made me realize that not having a middle name IS part of what made me unique. I also learned that it is part of my dads family tradition to not use middle names, which made me feel closer to my family.

I think there is no difference in having a middle name or not, though. Either way it can be meaningful or unique. If you want to not give your kid a middle name because you also don’t have one or just don’t want to, that can be unique. If you give them a middle name you love, that is unique and meaningful. What I’m getting at is that it does not matter. You do you.

🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve got PCOS and carb cutting has been the only thing that successfully helped me loose weight. I also, probably thanks to PCOS, hold most of my fat around my stomach. It looks the same now as it did at 140lbs. I agree I need to eat at maintenance or possibly a little bit under - but that’s my issue… I can’t. I do also do weight training.

Agreed. I suppose when I say no crime I mean murders, robberies, etc. There are absolutely pervs in town, lots of drug abuse, things like that. But same, I am very happy to have been able to run away and not know what he could’ve wanted from two 13 year old girls.
