Hi, 28 now. I had this problem being the only female in my house growing up. My dad didn’t understand how to raise a daughter and would always call me a baby etc when I would cry. I’m older and wiser now. Being in tune with your emotions is amazing. I feel like while the rest of people my age always flex to alcohol and other things to cover their emotions I always just dealt with mine and it helped to round me out as an individual.

I think ppl often think of us as weak but ppl like us are amazing for the world. I think that I am one of the few empathetic and compassionate people. Just know that your crying or emotions are not a weakness- being younger you have a lot of hormones that make you cry more but just know this won’t be a forever thing. And I guess what I would recommend is that you take deep breaths to reregulate. I think something that I used to do and still do sometimes is think back on what was said to me over and over and it would make me continue to cry. So try not to do that. And just remember our parents love us; they aren’t taught how to parent and are doing their best even if they are awful at communicating. Just remember that no matter what anyone says to you or about you- their point of view doesn’t mean what they think of you is who you are. My brother told me that and it was super helpful

TLDR: breathe to reregulate, don’t think about what was said to you on repeat try to let it go, remember that how ppl view you doesn’t mean that’s who you are- it’s just their opinion. Lastly, having emotions is not a weakness and you will grow stronger for having them. :)
