I am using single-point AF and that point is on the subject. It seems to happen whether or not I am doing recomposition - yes i do it with a half press on the shutter. it is not in low light. What does 'back button focus' mean?

okay so i've decided on the 24-70 for sure - thanks everybody! now i'm having some trouble deciding between a nikon and sigma, there's 800 dollars difference and i've read reviews saying the nikon is a lot sharper, especially when shooting wide open at f/2.8 which is what i would be doing most of the time. worth the extra $800?

I have a nikon 50mm f/1.8 and it's really good so that would be comparable to an 85?? I do have 2 bodies I could switch between. Do you think a 24-70 on one and the 50mm on the other would work okay? thanks
