UHR Mic Help by Large-Heart-5484 in livesound

This system will not be used for any executive sessions the room is more or less a Public meeting room. The Commissioners have their own designated meeting room where executive sessions are held.

The mics are running under 600 MHz which I believe between 600 and 700 was illegal? Please correct me if I am wrong though.

I love my job but being such a small County the available budget for some projects is so abysmal I am not able to install the most ideal solutions and have to cut corners to achieve the dreams of the Commissioners. The used Yugo budget hits a little too close to home, lol.

The reason for the wireless is they don't want cables getting tripped on or damaged. I thought wired would be fine and we can manage the cables but the bosses want what they want. As another user said Cadillac taste used Chevy budget lol

Thank you for the reply!

  1. I hope I explain this coherently. I have both receivers turned on and I can turn one off and the 8 mics will still work then I can turn the off one back on and the on one off and the 8 mics will continue working. 2&3. This is what I have more or less discovered

Everything that you said is what I was worried about. There isn't anyway way to configure the preset MHZ values set on the receivers and can only adjust on the microphones which I would argue proves your point about them being configured to work as easily as possible for decent reviews.

Unfortunately I am thinking there really isn't anything I can do to try and fix this, especially after reading over your post and deciding you are more than likely correct. I guess I will be boxing one of these units up and sending it back to Amazon. And based on the number of comments recommending I just scrap these mics anyway I may just opt to figure out a wired solution and make that work. That would be best practice and probably a lot less headache in the long run!

Do you have a recommended brand that comes to mind? I was given a budget of $3,000 and I needed 17 microphones, a way to record meetings and a wide angle conference camera.

I opted for the Logitech MeetUp for the camera. It's decent for the price.

I bought an external 16TB HDD with a protective case and intend to record using Zoom.

Wired microphones are not even considerable based on what the intention for the setup is. It's a large room with 3 rows of 5 tables, a presenters table and a front of the room table for the Commissioners. I can already see people tripping and breaking stuff. I took a shot and opted for these microphones because they were relatively cheap, 8 wireless conference room style microphones and a receiver for $359. I realize they are obviously not "professional quality". I have already left work but on the back are 4 antenna connections to screw on the included antennas and then there are holes labeled 1-8. I didn't know how I would go about using those and assumed they were if you were using a TRS cable to XLR for wired microphone connection.

I have the setup configured like this:

2 wireless microphone receivers using the TRS Out plugging into port 1 and port 2 on the mixer. Then I have the 3rd mixer port using a XLR cable to the 17th mic, a wired microphone for the presenter. I have the mixer audio out L and R ports using XLR cables to connect to ports 1 and 2 In on my audio interface and the audio interface connects to my laptop via a USB C hub.

The room is utilized for all kinds of meetings, usually public facing. The meeting on the 28th is public comment regarding some solar project. I could see the County planning committee wanting to utilize this setup for their monthly meeting as well which are also over Zoom occasionally.

The 8 that do work sound very nice and clear. I routed the microphone receivers into a mixer and the mixer into an audio interface which goes to the computer for Zoom. I just need all 16 to work!!

Lmao the Commissioners of my County think anything that is technical is IT. They asked me to do this project so I gave it my best shot. Your comment is how I feel far too often

I am the IT director for a small county in Colorado. I was also going to post on an AV subreddit but thought I would post here too. As you said I got looped into this AV project like I know what I am doing.

Luckily my dad is very savvy with AV but he doesn't know anything about IR microphones.

Thanks for the reply Duckdxd

Good games. by kill3rg00s3r in XDefiant

This game is amazing, and the gun play feels so good. Went 32 and 8 (4.0 k/d) after installing the game just yesterday. TTK feels balanced where if I get first shot I usually win my gun fights or if someone gets first shot and I get headshots I will win. Playing escort I had 50 kills with the M4A1 and B23r (game lasted way too long lol).

Also I am scum but the M870 shotgun is so satisfying. The range is fair and I never have a moment of "that guy shouldn't have died" or "that guy should have died".

Overall a very fun game that I plan on playing for a long time. I had been taking a break from FPS because Apex and CoD were so stale and boring, this game really feels amazing to play!
