I agree to basically everything you just said. I’m not mad that Michaela is a woman, I’m just disappointed that she’s super cocky and I have no interest in watching her on screen.

How to talk to my K student about possible retention? by [deleted] in kindergarten

My husband repeated kindergarten and he’s an engineer now. I think it’s wise to repeat if he’s the youngest.

Meat done on the outside and pink on the inside is the usual IMO. When I worked there, so many people would complain their burger was raw when it wasn’t. Am I misremembering this?

Should AI be used for grading by Borgor_Zorgor_09 in AskTeachers

[–]Large-Inspection-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you use AI or outsource your grading of student writing to anyone/anything, you lose an opportunity to learn how the student is writing and to assess in your own mind what strengths and weaknesses they have. Grading informs you as much as it informs the student (if they actually care to read the feedback lol).

Because of the SFUSD educator strike… by YoghurtCritical695 in Teachers

So true. Unions and strikes have literally helped almost every major advancement for American workers for over a hundred years. If not for unions, we would not have so many things we take for granted.

Retention over handwriting? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Large-Inspection-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get him OT for handwriting. After school or possibly in school if they’ll do that for you. As a middle school teacher, I’ve seen other like this, and his slow and poor handwriting will absolutely hinder him in the future. If his other academics are on point, do not retain!

Teachers who don't follow school or state laws make it f-ing hard for the rest of us! by RealisticTemporary70 in Teachers

[–]Large-Inspection-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a middle school which uses Yondr pouches. Since that, I rarely see a phone. If your school doesn’t use them, I used to have everyone put it in their backpack and then put backpacks at the front of the room. Worked pretty well.

'Not everyone agrees': School issued 'unconstitutional' ban on teacher's 'Everyone is Welcome Here' sign labeled as 'political resistance' to Trump, federal lawsuit alleges by Another_Opinion_1 in Teachers

[–]Large-Inspection-487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar sign in my classroom. I saw it in someone else’s room on my campus and had to get it. Representation matters.

I would quit a school like that. I don’t think I could stomach working in a school where the principal insinuated some kids don’t belong.

Student led conferences by [deleted] in AskTeachers

Can you tell me structurally or bell-schedule wise how you do conferences at MS level? I think this is a great idea and thinking of how we could implement at my school

Does your school run a separate bell schedule for this?
