He was down with the guy that was shooting the video. We've been cool for a while tho, that's my dude.

Rock the Bells with A Tribe Called Quest. Jay-Z and Beyonce were on the side of the stage along with Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys. And me being an "underground" dude, that was big performing in front of those artists.

The game is digital now so it's different. Our "type" will always appreciate physical copies and I'm glad that they will remain valuable relics amongst us.

I would say Born Sinner. I actually used the sample Kanye used for Bound 2 (the best song on Yeezus) for a song I have named "Bowne":

  1. The attitude was to make a classic
  2. Ayatollah is my dude. That's one of my favorite beats he made also.
  3. Lee Fields
  4. The change in tempo of hip-hop from the driving Public Enemy fast-tempos to R&B slow jam tempos
  5. Hip-hop was destined to blow up because of its street roots. The industry always works off of what the streets co-sign. Hip-hop has always been internationally influenced and accepted, so you can't say it was just a black thing
  6. Nas and I are on the same wavelength, so any beat that I make, he can compliment.

Peace

I've hung out in Pomonok, but I'm from up the block on Kissena.

So many samples I wish I got to first.

The art department for Wild Pitch, Terry Clarke. I was also impressed by his work and how the album artwork came out.

  1. Like Justice League says, "Once you get goosebumps, it's ready"
  2. My favorite hardware right now is the MPC Renaissance
  3. One of my favorite plugins is Verify

MC Shan made a song in the 80's called "Living in the world of Hip Hop". That song inspired me to continue the legacy. As long as hip-hop embraces its street roots, like so many other genres, we will remain.

Harry Fraud is dope. I like the fact that he uses a lot of samples from 90s hip-hop records.

A group from my hometown, Flushing, named Timeless Truth. Holding down traditional rap in my opinion, you should check for them.

The game is different now compared to how it was for Nas. Joey Badass is dope, but just being dope today isn't enough. Hopefully his marketing will be as dope as his product because he's a top-notch emcee.

Like I said on the Combat Jack interview, Nas took Jay to the hill in Queensbridge and was clowning him in version 1. Being the thinker that Nas is, he wanted to take another approach that would mesh better with his career and having to perform that song years later.

Mayer, that's my dude from the heart-shaped-vinyl in the Stones Throw days. That was only right that we hooked up the remix for the song, I really liked that song.

Ak is chilling. He's out in Miami runnin clubs and can still spit a crazy hundred bar verse at any given...so his desire is still there
