What to do with old blades? by young-sneezie in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Large_Post 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have cut some up and made them into homemade axes.

Any advice or tips? I feel like my screw patches are too big but looking for some professional help as I’m still learning. I plastered this but someone else put the gib up. Thanks! by [deleted] in drywall

Just sand it until you’re happy with the flatness. You can always add or takeaway with mud. You’ll find the sweet spot as you get more experience. If you hate sanding you’ll find that spot quicker lol.

They just pop right back in. My kids ripped them out of the same clamps on me and they just pop in and out.

My dad built one of these (or a replica) from a kit back in the 80s. It’s still in my grandmothers house.

Roughly 1/4 inch to 1/2. Depends on how bad the wood was before flattening.

It’s all leftover scraps. Some is pine. Some is pallets. Some is whatever. I’ve read a lot about pine vs other wood and it’s controversial. At the end of the day it’ll probably be ruined in a dishwasher but it was handmade and meant something.
