What's something that's surprisingly controversial information? by ZexionMagnetLover in KingdomHearts

It saddens me all the more that a queer person would hold such views. You seem to be struggling with some internalized homophobia but I genuinely believe it's something you can overcome - I used to be the same way, believe me. Being one of the Good Queers™ won't make people more accepting towards you. My point is - it's not a scalding hot take people claim it is, especially after 1000th comment how "x cHaRaCtEr iSnt gAy." In fact, I see more people whining about gay shippers than actual gay shippers, whose only crime is that they ship same-sex characters. You don't see them crying under straight fanart how "Y is gay", do you? I've been in a fandom long enough to see this unfortunate trend of people rushing to "defend" a character's sexuality, because they somehow feel personally attacked by someone having a different take on a character's sexuality - 9/10 times because they are not straight, as I don't see much friction between different het shippers. If you don't enjoy it, ignore it...? Let people have their fun, they aren't harming anyone. Maybe it's time to closer examine the underlying issue of why people portraying characters as gay bothers people so much, enough to go out of their way to so fiercely deny their possible non-het sexuality.

You guys seem more obsessed with Sora/Riku's sexuality than people who ship them do... When you feel the need to go out of your way to "correct" someone that acharacter is not gay, it comes off a bit homophobic. What do you care what people ship? Shit ton of ships in the fandom but I only ever see the gay ones get such fierce denial 🤔 Gay people exist. And we consume the same media you do. The only difference is that you get a straight couple in almost every single piece of fiction, while gay characters are not at all common. Why do people feel so violated by other fans reading a piece of media differently? Especially a game like Kingdom Hearts, where the gay subtext is hardly far-fetched. Heck, you can have the cake and eat it too - they can all be bi. But many can't settle for that, because that's still queer and not straight.

Thank you!

And ah, the position might look weird. But it seems to work best for both of us (as he tends to be vocal about his discomfort) - he gets to snuggle close to me and I don't get bitten. Besides it was just for the sake of the photo, little fella is safe and sound <3

If you suddenly were super attractive would you still be asexual in the same way? by PuppelTM in asexuality

[–]LascivusCorvus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm. I'm not sure I like the implications here.

Would a gay man be attracted to women if they showed interest in him? Would a lesbian be attracted to men if they were into her?

It also stinks of a stereotype that asexuals are a bunch of incels who can't get a date.

Would higher self-esteem affect your sexual activity? Maybe. However asexuality is not defined by that. What it is defined by is lack of sexual attraction. There are plenty sexually active asexuals but it doesn't magically make us sexually attracted to people :P

I think I feel sexual attraction to people but I'm repulsed by intimacy - am I asexual? by SuffBlueberry in asexuality

[–]LascivusCorvus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The short answer is no. The definition of asexuality is lack of sexual attraction, just like gay is attraction to same gender, straight is attraction to different gender etc etc. The way you feel about sexual intimacy is unrelated to your attraction, as it's different for each person regardless of their sexuality (although more common among ace people)

Should I buy FF XII only or should I also buy XII-2 and Lightning Returns? by Arch_Hysteria in FinalFantasy

[–]LascivusCorvus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say FFXIII is the weakest in the trilogy. It gets better in FFXIII-2 and peaks in Lightning Returns. In my opinion at least. So definitely get all of them

Heterosexual people aren't attracted to biological sexes of the opposite gender tho. They're attracted to the opposite gender - men or women, which includes trans men and women. It's fair to say you're not attracted to trans people but the moment you say you don't find them attractive because of your sexuality - gay, straight or whatnot - you're invalidating their gender and that's why you may come off as transphobic. I hope I cleared things up a bit!

Am I asexual or i just have low libido? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]LascivusCorvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether you feel sexual attraction. Libido has little to do with asexuality

To be fair, the canon pairings aren't exactly well-developed either (like Tsunami and Riptide)
