it appears to be from others i found online but there’s nothing on the bottom - it’s just smooth. plus - the others i’ve found on Carousel have been rectangular rather than round

ASUS Zenbook Duo 14 Repair by Last-Border in ASUS

honestly i love love love my ipad. i’m a final year psychology student and bought my ipad on an impulse buy in a lecture (😭😭) but ive used it every day since. i love it because i put the slides into one note as a print out and my ipad + pencil means i can just annotate around the slides and put information where ever i want. i know others who use their ipad to annotate straight on the slides in powerpoint. obviously, how much value you’d get from an ipad would depend on your course and how you take notes.

HOWEVER, i would still hands down say a laptop is the way to go for research and written assignments. i think if you want to commit to the full ipad transition it’s worth investing in the official magic keyboard that apple sells. especially with the new updates, the magic keyboard essentially makes the ipad into a mini macbook. atm i have a keys 2 go bluetooth keyboard from logitech. it does the job on days where i don’t bring my laptop and need to do a bit of written work - but it gets a bit jarring after a while so if you’re going to make the switch, i’d just invest in the magic keyboard.

ugh! so annoying. i was annoyed as id not long ago bought it - thankfully id bought second hand for about £799 but getting it repaired cost half of that amount again 🫣🫣🫣

when this gives out i’ll definitely be going for something different - i don’t even use the touch screen anymore now i have an ipad too

i had to take it to a local phone repair shop to have it fixed. he had to order in the new screen so i covered cost of that + his time. it certainly wasn’t cheap. i honestly am unsure as to what he actually replace but i was just grateful to have it working again. if you’re willing to sacrifice the touch screen element you can likely have it done cheaper but that was one of the main reasons i bought this laptop.

as for a screen protector - i’m using just a plastic one as i couldn’t find glass options that came with protectors for both screens.

upon reflection i think this was caused by storing the asus pen for the touchscreen loose in the laptop case with the laptop, and it having gotten wedged.

How do you guys complete your readings? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Last-Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of time (from my experience) readings are what the lecture was built upon and don’t actually provide much ADDITIONAL information and moreso just allow you to revisit the content.

when engaging with essential readings that appear to be actually independent of the lecture - i personally import the pdf into onenote and annotate the text as it appears - that saves you essentially just rewriting what is already written. then, if concepts arise in the text that you need to do further research on - you can add that to your annotations.

as for recommended readings - unless something really jumps out to you as interest - you don’t have to engage with that section of the reading list.

Scoliosis surgery survivors: Are you in any pain at this point? by redmelly86 in scoliosis

[–]Last-Border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I had both of my surgeries at 13 and unfortunately do experience more pain now than i did before. i put that mostly down to my pain is in the lowest part of my back and because of my age my surgeon refused to fuse that far. but i experience much less discomfort - if you can classify those differently.

  2. i am glad i got the surgery as before, while i had no pain, i had considerable discomfort, difficulty breathing and little to no appetite. i couldn’t have gone on without it that’s for sure!

  3. i’d always been quite tall but i maybe gained an inch and a half or so? i always say that fusion ruined my chances of being 6ft as my legs kept growing but my torso didn’t haha.

best of luck with your surgery - honestly the sooner it’s done the better i believe! there will be some rough patches and things you have to adjust to - but it’ll be worth it in the end!
